93 AST Cap Won't Come off

I picked up a new OE cap (spring loaded) for the AST (original tank and cap) but the old one will not come off. It twists past the "locking tabs" as if you can pull it right up from there but it isn't budging. The whole tank is moving if you pull hard enough. Its almost as if the thing isn't replaceable. Am I missing something, these things are removable/replaceable, there's a part number for the cap. The current cap on there is a Calsonic .9.

Any one experience issues with removing the freaking cap? The tank actually appears to be in good condition, although i did order another one.

car is original 93 touring with 46k miles. It hasn't been driven much in the last couple years. Thanks

Try pushing down as you turn, then pull.

I got it off.. thanks. Even better news it was causing my coolant overflow tank to overflow. I was dreading the coolant seal but the car has just under 46k miles and it runs fantastic... no smoke, no idle issues, no sweet smell, no overheating, plugs looked good. And sure enough the cap was the culprit. It was actually keeping the fans from kicking on in time and also im sure pressure was way off. Casuing the pressure to build at the overflow. I may have to go FC fan switch or Petit. Thanks for the tips.
