74C air temperature ?

That's hot. . .but it can happen once heat-soaked in traffic. Sensor is on the underside of the UIM. You may want to replace it with one of the fast-reacting sensors. Search for more information.

You must take into consideration ambient temperatures as well before you determine if you have an issue. But I will say that's hot, do you still have the stock IC? Does your IC have duct? The people I see with the highest AIT's are those that are running the stocker. They hover in the 60's-70's in traffic.
For example my friend who has a stocker and in 85F weather he heatsoaks at around 65C in traffic. I on the other hand who had a PFS SMIC I hovered in the low 50's during the same conditions. Now I have a large SMIC (same size as pettit's large) and my temps are in the low 40's also in 85F weather and sitting in traffic.

Seems like the magic outdoor temperature is around 90F for me. Below that, everything stays in check: water about 87C; IAT stays in 50's in traffic, lower when moving along. But once it gets over 90 outside, water temps creep into the 90'sC; IAT into the 70'sC. . .just gets into that total heatsoak mode. Currently have Pettit (small) SMIC, Pettit intake, Mazcomp radiator. . . I've decided to go with a vmount setup as I'm tired of having this heat soak problem in the Atlanta summers. It may still get hot, but shouldn't get anywhere near where it is running now. . .
