7 boling over after being turned off for 5-10 minutes
car runs and drives at normal operating temps, then 5-10min after it's shut off, coolant starts coming out the overflow tank

After the engine is shut off, heat from the metal in the engine will heat the coolant in the engine more than when it was running. If the AST cap is weak, coolant will do exactly what you describe.
Read "The big fat cooling" thread: https://www.rx7club.com/showthread.p...ig+fat+cooling
1st: Replace AST cap
2nd: If that doesn't work, check fan operation
A general good thing to do is to replace the fan thermoswitch with the FC thermoswitch, which turns on the fans at ~205F vs the stock FD's 221F. this will reduce the stress on the entire cooling system and on the coolant o-rings.

Sounds like your are experiencing heatsoak.
You're from new york so i can understand. Its REALLY HOT outside right now. Im assuming in your drive, you boosted a couple of times, (as any FD owner does) so the heat from the turbo(s) after the car is shut down will create more heat than when the car was running because there is no more heat transfer. Its just sitting there, the engine acting as a HUGE heat sink.

check your rad cap. It sounds like you have a faulty cap. If it is more than that, then you might have more serious problems. Mine used to do that too until I changed my cap and now it is good.
