600cc Honda Wants to take me on?

I have a friend who is a pretty good rider and he's got a '93 600cc Honda crotch rocket. I guess he has a new engine and all that good stuff. Not sure what his mods are. I have a '94 RX7 and will be running streetport 2mm hurley seals (not a definite) intake,dp,mp,cb,FMIC,PFC,fuel pump,1300cc injectors and 17inch rims. I told him I would run him from a dead stop and a roll. He thinks he will destroy me, so what do you guys think? My car is being disassembled right now for all the above mods. Anyone want to make predictions?

I raced a few motorcycles, and i'll tell you they are fast from a stop, they'll pull car lengths away from you. If it's from a roll on on a freeway race to say 150mph, then you'd have a better chance since aerodynamics play more of a role etc.

My car has basic bolt ons, and i raced a GSXR 750, and it pulled me by about 5 car lenghts from a dead stop to 140mph....way fast.

Yeah, i wouldn't race a bike. The cheapest crappiest bike you can buy runs about 12's stock. 100+ hp, sometimes 150 160hp in a 3-400lb machine. Do the math. Up high you might have a chance, but from a stop, forget it.

I don't think you have any chance of beating him from a roll. But, I would do a downshift on the highway with him. I mess with bikes more than I mess with cars. I've frustrated many a bike, because he couldn't lose me. I've never really spanked one though. I've passed some smaller ones, but never truly handed it to one.
Those things are fast......period. Don't bet money.

that's way off you can buy a bike that runs 16s
not all bikes are in 12s

why the hell would you care about racing a bike and why would you care if you lost?

Yup, he'll eat you alive from a stop...from a roll too if he's crazy enough to keep going. (150+ mph on a bike on the street is crazy IMO)

Well, I guess I'll be the devil's advocate here.

I've pulled 2 cars on a cbr600 from 60-140 before--this happened about 6 months ago.

Now, I wouldn't mess with one from a stop. But it was fun seeing the look on the guys face once we slowed down....

Well this is a 600cc bike from way back in '93. Back then a 600 had maybe 70HP, not the 100+ they have today. I think with the mods you list even from a dead stop you should be competitive .

Race him from a roll, not from a stop though as others have said. You stand a good chance to hang with him from a roll as the bike is probably quickest from 0-60 mph. Again from a roll I don't think he'll "destroy" you though...

I have messed with a couple bikes from a roll. Got ate up by a 929 all but one time when the rider messed up downshifting. I've even had a friend with a '00 gsxr 600 back down from a race with me. To think a bike scared of racing a car.

Again let us know how it turns out.

No chance in the twisties.

You should be able to hang with him if he only has minor mods.

You people must be racing some damn good riders from a stop. The only bike to take me off the line was a R1 and I've raced plenty. If you know how to launch and have good tires, defiantly do it from a stop. I killed a F2 off the line when I was STOCK and he didn't catch me until 3rd.

And yes, I know how to launch. This is defiantly not my beat but was with only dp, cb, ecu, and crappy P7000's.

uh you have no chance. twisties or drag. use to have a zx 6 and a gsxr 750 bored out to 849 cc. with all the goodies. was making 114.7 rwhp on a bike that weighted around 490 lbs. it was crazy fast. race him for fun. not for money. i have a 93 fd. cb/mp/intakes/dp/ pfc @ 12.5 psi/ greddy intercooler. i can tell you it's not even close performance wise. goodluck.

You got that right. Nothing you can do on 4 wheels matches the thrill of 160+ on 2 wheels.
