Talking 5TH Gear Syncro rides again !!!!!!!

2 guys 12 hours lots of sweat and my 5 gear now slides in smooth as silk again with the upgraded shift spindle to hopefully prevent another 2Nd to 5Th gear bonehead shift. You know the jerk in the Mustang was to tempting to passup. He decided this "old" RX7 could still kick his *** around 135 ( no ***** I guess ).
The syncro replacement was not bad at all. Be sure to get a puller at least 14" deep before you start. almost everything else was a piece of cake. Started at 9:00 AM and were drinking beer at 10:30. Eating and driving to get a deeper puller took about 90 Mins. so about 10 hours if you stay at it. MANY THANKS TO CORY for the manpower.
Anyone serious about doing this I would be glad to answer any questions that may help prepare you for it.

5th Gear syncro replacement

I'm going to replace this piece this weekend. Did you remove the transmission from the car. Cam a pettit said that he could do it in the car, removing the casing and replacing the syncro.
He does it in about two hours. I wonder if anybody has done this. Any special tools needed?
Please give me a breakdown of supplies and steps to do this so I don't have to re invent the wheel.

Thanks

It doesn't do it with age; the syncro dies when you try to shift from 2nd to 3rd too fast and it goes into 5th or something like that.

The syncro is out on mine with 60k miles. I just plan on replacing it when I get a new clutch, which won't be a while because I have an almost brand new one in there right now. For the time being, I just double clutch into 5th fast & furious style yO!
