simple job if you are mechanically inclined do the gear the sycro and the cage also insoect the 2 shaft bearings i have replaced them on a couple trani rebuilds all parts cost lessthan $400

just an fyi but the price of parts needed to blueprint a gearbox; replace ALL bearings syncro's and seals is around $600 including 5th/R syncro assy.

I'm curious what you mean by blueprinting. Is that just readjusting the selective washers to minimize endplays?

Depending on the definition, some builders will try multiple brand new sets of gears to find the combination that results in the minimum backlash in each gear pair. That's what I thought blueprinting meant. That costs more like $6000 than $600.

well labor parts and a new clutch was 1400 after tax for the parts.

could some one tell me what could be wrong with my FD
first, second and third gear makes a grinding sound
fourth and fifth is normal but from fourth to fifth it sometimes cracks

my car grinds a bit into 2nd, i can feel a bit of a thud during the change! Sorry OT

The car probably spent most of its life in second.

I've heard people grind 2nd alot because they are shifting too fast into 2nd.

No, you can't. I double clutch and still have the grinding issue above ~30 mph. Maybe I'm just that lucky.

i bought the 5th gear synchro and reverse slider from rotary performance for 100 dollars and did the job myself in about 14 hours all together.. but when i did that i found out my u-joints were bad on my driveshaft.. then found out for new u-joints i had to buy the whole damn driveshaft

Unfortunately no luck on the rev matching. If I rev match or double clutch I get the same exact grind as when I shift normally.
