5th gear grind

i have the 5th gear grind and would like to kno how to fix it on the cheap. any help would be appreciated.

What you need is a new 5th gear synchro. If you can install it yourself, check the FSM for how, and have at. If not, take it to a reputible shop. I see you're in Ohio, so that means you would take it to either Defined Autoworks or RX-7 Store.

You may have to get your tranny fully rebuilt, but that's not likely. It should cost between $500-1000 total. Which is "on the cheap" as far as RX-7 repairs go

There is nothing particularly unique about the transmission. Any trusted shop could probably do it for you. Alot less labor if you R & R it for the repair yourself.

I put the ring in for $ 70 to $90 .The price depends on how long it takes to clean the out side of the case . This does not include the ring .
