50k miles blown coolant seal? Advise please.

Well, I just came back from a long drive after going up the country to see Bob Dylan in concert. Spirited driving all the way and when I arrived home yesterday I shut down the engine, then left the ign on to allow the fans to run for a few minutes. At this point the coolant buzzer came on, no problem, wheeled her into the garage to have a look.

After stripping out the stock intake box just to get a closer look at where the water was coming from, I soon discovered it was being shoved out of the overflow tank under pressure. I popped the overflow cap and the tank is completely overfilled with coolant. Took the filler cap - no smell of exhaust gas / fuel. Topped off the coolant with water. Started her up and immediatly observed foaming, stream of bubbles coming from the filler cap.

Coolant seal.

Ironic really, driving the whole weekend up the country and she gives out just when I arrive home!

This FD is basically stock (with PowerFC), japan import with 50k miles from new. I have been struggling with lean tip in problems for a while now, and getting knock at very low rpm's, transition from vacuum to boost. Was running out of idea's but I was planning on doing a bit of tuning this week to just sort it. I reckon this issue has contributed to my blown coolant seal - if indeed that is the problem? Anyway, now I'm looking at options and I would appreciate feedback from any experienced engine builders out there as to how I might approach this..

Approach #1 (cheap $1k)..

Just get the gasket kit and rebuild and hope that there are no other issues (as a result of recent det). Your thoughts?

Approach #2 (bullet proof ~$8k)..

Get a reman (OEM seals) - possibly Gotham or Petitt. Ported.
Clutch (recommendations - stock "feel"?).
BNR Stage III turbo's.
SMIC (recommendations for easy fitting, using stock ducts?).
Bigger rad (fluidyne already ordered).
Bigger injectors (possibly 850cc x 4) and Supra Pump (ordered already).
Aiming for approx 350-400hp on 91MON (95RON here).
WI (Aquamist 2d) for safety when pushing boost.
Am I missing anything??

I like the sequential setup and sleeper / stock. I've done R&R and all maintenance on these cars (I have 2 FD's). What sorta miles are you guys getting out of ~350bhp remans? Feedback on above options would be much appreciated and thanks..
