I'm running stock coils with a TP and the greddy race plugs. I also run 575cc of water at 23 psi boost. No hiccups, and no breakup, just lots of power. I'm running the pfc also

Yes the stock coils and HKS twin power will easily support well over 500whp, we have lots of customers with this setup.

The Power FC will easily support 500+whp also....

I'd stick with NGK wires, either the standard stock wires or the upgraded NGK Power Cables if you want to spend some coin:

Im a fan of BMEPs IGN-1A coils as an interim coil before going with a full CDI box such as the Autronic 500r. You'd need an ecu that lets you dictate proper dwell time however.

I have no p/s or a/c and my coils are still in the stock location

Summit Racing and Jegs sell cut-to-length wires if you need to move them.

Now, this all assumes that the stock coils are in good condition to begin with. That is not always the case... Especially with mileage.

I didn't realize stock coils could do 500 hp, I have been working with LS2 coils with no luck. I guess I should give the stock coils a shot.

I prefer Magnecor 10mm wires.

I still have not figured out why people relocate the coils. They are nicely tucked away under the UIM and heat does not appear to effect the performance. Mounting them elsewhere in the engine bay adds clutter to a previously clean spot, and adds a failure point to the ignition system. If the leads are too long they can get tangled in the steering column. We have had several people come in for tuning that had relocated the coils to the CC area, there was a fancy aluminum plate over them that the leading coil was arc out to, causing the leading plugs not to fire consistently. Best setup-- leave them in the stock location. We even have the stock FD coils under the UIM in our 13bre Vert, this cleaned up the engine bay a bunch.

I don't think that heat does any electrical component any good. Relocation makes checking and replacing of the coils a 10 minute job instead of a 3 hour one.

I can have the UIM off of a stock FD in 10 minutes (single turbo less), in 3 hours the entire engine can be removed and broken down, and ready for cleaning.

What "checking" do you do on the coils? If you are replacing them that frequently because of failures you have a major problem. I have had FDs in the shop with 220K on them with the original stock coils in the stock location.

My friend's FD is pushing 580whp with a power fc, hks twin spark and some hks race plugs.

I am pushing 439whp with power fc,hks twin spark and all 9 plugs. I plan to upgraded my injectors and push over 500whp with same setup. May consider chaning plugs to 10s but we will wait and see

I will never use those wires again, NGK Power Cables all the way. I run Denso Iridiums without a TP (which I consider a band aid) and have no break up whatsoever. Granted, I'm not making 500 rwhp.

and why is that?

I ran the same set of 10mm Magnecors forr 9 years with over 500rwhp. We have them on our shop Vert which makes 435rwhp @ 15psi and I will have them on my GT42RS 20B FD. I have never once had a problem with them. So please let us all know why you will never use those wires again....

Cheap...boots split, connectors were junk. Perhaps I had a lemon set, but I'm sticking with NGK, I've had great luck with them

damn you car is the same exact set-up as mine.

But on another note yea i would love to keep them in the stock location but since i dont have a rats nets or any of that junkno more then i want to either build or buy a new coil mounting bracket so it all looks nice under the intake manifold
