5 speed tranny stuck in gear?

Heya guys. I did the auto to manual swap and all the parts are basically in. When we tried to go switch gears on the tranny, it was stuck. It wouldnt move anywhere even with a good amount of force. I didn't get the chance to test it before it was installed so I dont know if it was like that from the start or not, but by any chance could that happen if it was installed incorrectly? Or is that a good sign that the tranny is fucked up?

Any input or ideas would be appreciated. Thank you.

If your shifting linkage is ok, then you have internal tranny problems.

make sure that the two bolts on the top of the transmission are screwed in.
Under these bolts there is a spring that allows a ball bearing to ride up and down on a shaft that has notches on it. This shaft moves from the front to the back of the transmission when you shift gears.
If these bolts or "caps" are not on correctly the ball bearing might have become jammed up or something.
It's what happened to me. I couldn't get the car out of first gear. I had to take the tranny out and fix that little problem. After that I put the shift back on the tranny (with the tranny on the garage floor) and it shifted just fine.
