3rd OMP bolt?

I'm trying to remove the OMP but cannot for the life of me locate a third bolt holding it on.

The online FSM images are fuzzy enough to be of no help.

Any clues?

If you were staring at the OMP from the passenger side there is one at the top left, one at the top right and one at the bottom left. The one at the top left is very difficult to see but if you slip a socket back there you'll find it.

I assume you meant bottom left. The top two are pretty straightforward.

Thanks, I'll try again. Roughly directly below the top left?

Yep. Sorry; it's the bottom one as you said that's hard to see.

If you look at the back of the OMP there is a sheet metal heat sheild. The sheild has two indentions in it that run across the ends. The rear OMP bolts are just at the end of these. They will help guide your socket to the bolts.

remember how its mounted because it looks like you could install it wrong

Nope, doesn't help - that motor's too purty - the shine hurts my eyes.

Thanks for the help!

I did a write up. Some pics in there, but none of the bolts.

That was the trick Damon. Thanks very much. That bolt was one of the most isolated, hard to reach ones I've had the joy of messing with on this car aside from the fuel filter. Absolutely no way to it from above, and required about 12" of socket extension and swivels from below.

I am so happy I went to the trouble though! Turns out the o-ring was leaking badly and it felt like hard (flat) plastic rather than rubber. I'll post some pics when I get them off the camera. I spent two days just cleaning the pump and scraping sludge out of the nooks and crannies below. Much better the o-ring than a leaky front cover gasket though, which is what I feared was next!

pics - 56k warning

In case you are interested, here are some OMP cleanup pics. (don't you have anything better to do?)

First is the embarassing "before" shot:

Here is the pump removed. Clearly it has been leaking at the o-ring

And after a lot of cleaning, you can still see where the oil had been leaking

Finally, back on the car. Much better. Can anyone give me ideas now for getting the rust off those vacuum hard pipes?
