JHew84,

I don't know what to tell you. You want to turn this place into something it's not and never will be. You are either head strong and you'll keep reporting threads regardless of what happens to them (that was me), or you'll give up and use the forum for what it is (or you just decide not to visit anymore).

Stomping your feet won't get the admins to add another sections. To be honest, I don't really see that happening. It took me a lot of effort to convince them to add one the first time around as they didn't believe it would work. Seeing it fail was all the information they needed to prove they were right in the first place.

Ya I guess without actually being able to show the style of moderation i'm suggesting I won't be very successful at convincing anyone, especially the people who already have their minds made up on the subject. But honestly the proposed layout sounds basically like your old moderation style (mahjik), only instead of tossing certain threads into a general topic forum they would go to a specific 3rd gen forum.

And I have been reporting threads, I would have been doing it sooner but the disclaimer on the report button does kind of advise against it, maybe consider changing that message?

no joke, don't you wish they'd change the forum so posts like this could get moved to an off topic lounge? .

The fastest and easiest way to change the forum is to ban people by the hundreds I'll be busy this weekend

It gives us an idea which threads are viewed as out-of-place or objectionable. In some cases we may not agree with the final action (move, lock, or leave it alone), but in all cases it helps to focus attention on threads that don't belong.

With the volume of discussion, wandering subject matter within threads, and the fact that I skim thru the content, it simply helps to know where to focus my attention.

Going back thru my emails, I have received zero thread reports for at least a month. I get on average about one per month.

And more to the point if there isn't a better place to send the topics we would rather not see in the tech section how is it supposed to be shaped into something we would rather visit? Just because I (and a good number of others) don't want to see certain threads in the tech section doesn't mean we feel they shouldn't be contained in a specific forum as opposed to getting thrown into the jumble of all generations.

I still don't see the issue with adding a lounge subforum in the 3rd gen specific section, it would be no different from the timeslips forum (which could be compiled into a single stickied post, IN the lounge mind you ). I still beleive it would be a useful change for the 3rd gen section, it not working in the past isn't convincing enough for me i'm sorry .
Yep, we're never going to have everyone perfectly in agreement, this is a simple truth.

Dave

I have probably reported 20+ threads in the past week , gotta use the little exclamation mark right below the topic starters name and info right? Any idea where the disconnect might be? I swear i'm reporting them like mad haha.

I really did think more people would be on board with this, maybe something will happen in the future, until then I will keep pushin the buttons. I honestly never thought this would turn into an abrasive argument between the management and members , don't really want to offend you or anything.

Then that might explain your frustration.

I'll pursue this and see if I can find someone who can answer this.

That's the best comment of the thread thus far

I agree. And given that I was polite to Damon, thanked him for his help, and even tried to break a smile in him...I'm sure on on the "ban" list LOL.

No one seems to be moderating the Other Engine Conversion sub-forum anymore either.

I reported several snotty posts by Mark (yzf-r1) under his latest account (KX500FD) and then people just started shitting in my conversion thread like it was the lounge. I finally asked to have it deleted.

Your thread reports are getting through.... to me anyway. Not sure what's happening on Dave's end.

I haven't been ignoring your reports, it's simply that I disagree with most of them given how this section is setup. I've been moderating quite a while now and I've learned you have to leave a little "fun" in here, even if maybe it's not strictly the correct section. Since I'm such a hard *** on other things, it's all about balance.

Ah, so i've only been annoying rynberg . I can't knock your moderation styles, they are your own and i'm sure they work. I'll still continue reporting threads with my .02 though, some you'll agree with, others maybe not, better to say something than stay silent though is the message i'm getting about the report button.
