Check your battery? Check your battery terminals?

Try push starting the car. And pray your engine isn't locked up.

Well if the starter won't engage, rotating the motor over, it's not likely an ignition issue, but a starting issue.

However, when you push-started the car, did it feel like the motor was turning over as you dumped the clutch, or did it come to a sudden stop, like the motor was seized?

Bad starter

Bad Battery

Bad connections.

Start with the connections, clean them, reinstall. You can take a battery to most parts dealers, and they can test it and tell you if its bad.

a lot of the times a battery will be giving a perfect 12v

it's the cold cranking amps that will cause it to not start

it could still have 12v but not enough amps to start the car

i think its ok for me thread jack this one considering the age and the fact that problem was solved... i have a similar issue. except i dont get a tack sound. i get nothing. i turn the key and there is no noise. not a click or hiss or anything.

a little background. motor swap to single turbo harness from a manual car. my car was once auto long before i had it and they kept the auto harness. i had to do the auto dash harness to manual engine harness de-pin re-pin procedure.
https://www.rx7club.com/3rd-generati...ersion-222574/
followed it step by step and i get nothing. the lights and all that turn on fine and normal except the fuel pump doesnt prime. but when i go to turn the key to start, nothing happens. my gauges and stuff like that turn off like there supposed to as if the car were to start but nothing happens. the starter is good and all relays are good. all plugs are plugged and everything is as it should be.

what am i doing wrong?

My guess would be the clutch interlock. The auto has a neutral/park switch. I just shorted the wires so it thinks the clutch is depressed. Not to be confused with the clutch switch.
