3rd gen resale values

No big surprise - but I am always a little taken back when I see moderately modified MKIV Supra turbo's advertised for ~30k.

This, for example - http://www.jtanner.org/supra/index.html

I don't see anything super special on that car. The suspension and rims appear to be stock.
A similarly modified '93 RX-7 with 122k on the odo would be lucky to get half that!

I dont see the specialty either, they are for sure great cars(own a 93.5) but the prices are just unacceptable - they are not worth it unless you plan on heavily modifying them

FD values have been dropping like a rock, unless you've got one with under 35k miles that's stock. I just sold mine -- with my independent twins -- for 13,500 with a brand new motor. I put about $20k in that car after buying it with a limping engine and a bad transmission for $9500. Go figure.

sure I'm a little partial, but Do they look a little more dated than the FD to any of you guys??? something just doesn't flow right...supra's look a little bloated compared to todays cars...

I'm glad that the resale value of the RX-7 isn't that of the Supra, because I want to buy one. I feel bad for you guys though.

The Supra looked dated to me when it is brand new. Never liked it.

It could be worse. I saw a MINT '94 Ford Probe GT on the freeway this morning. Sign in the window said "One owner, 60K miles, $3800." I think we've held our own fairly well.

I waiting for the resale value to drop alittle more and then I'll probably pick another one up. Something draws me to the car, but I'll probably keep it at exhaust and DP level. The last one was alot of fun before I started going crazy with the mods on it.

Same here. So far as much money I put into her, I couldn't ever sell my FD. If I ever do..there better be a good reason...

Supras are hi in demand, that's why they sell for those prices. Supras IMO are the #1 ricers want to have car. But that one on top is not even worth 20k

I don't think you will ever see too much more drop, IMO. The stockers are a bit rare and there is a point at which the tables will turn. Muscle cars hit rock bottom about 12 years ago and they never did go low again. now people want insane prices for beat up junk.

We did. But there are more than a thousand people on this forum. In any event, I hope the prices keep dropping. I'll be able to own one of every color, someday. LOL. I don't plan on selling mine either. Encountering my FD in the morning is like walking up to a painting in the Mueum of Modern Art, only to realize I am standing in my garage.

Also, keep in mind the original MSRP of the Supras were higher then the RX-7.

Hey John! Haven't seen ya in a while! Thanks for all the help man...got everything straightened out a few months back

I'm w/ Section8 on this one. I don't care about resale since I never plan on selling mine. The only reason I somewhat care about resale is because I see FD's falling more and more into the wrong hands, because the price to buy one is a lot more affordable nowadays. Little do they know that BUYING one and KEEPING one are two totally different things...

we'll when i bought mine(a month ago) i was offered 2000 more than what i bought it for. i was thinking about selling it then Hurican Dennis hit and i had to Evac. that 360 mile drive to ATL GA was never better. handling on the country roads and pulling to 140 mph with no problem i fell in love with my FD and havn't thought of selling it since. sorry Big Rob if you ever read this post. I got a felling that my FD will stay till my or its death.

I can't ever imagine selling mine. Actually, I plan on picking up a mint, low mileage CYM and bastardizing it with a Turbo LS1 sometime in the next few years.
