3rd Gen Chassis Information

Hey,

Can anyone confirm for me the exact material used in the basic RX chassis.
I am looking to have my chassis chemical dipped for re-spraying but a steel chassis cannot be dipped with any aluminium present, and an aluminium chassis cannot be dipped with any steel present. I have been told it’s something to do with the types of chemicals used and what they would do to the metal.

From what I can see the 3rd gen RX7 chassis is aluminium but is there any steel hidden anywhere that I haven’t found maybe for structural support.

Please help

Many thanks

the fd is a steel frame unibody .. only the hood is aluminum
take a magnet anywhere on the car and you will see it is steel ( magnetic ) .. aluminum is non ferrous .. not magnetic

Yep, all steel body save for the hood.

Aluminum car bodies were pretty pricey/exotic when the FD was designed, I have a feeling Mazda thought about it though.
