3rd Gen AST Dilemmna / Fix

Just got around to installing my new Blitz Stock Mount IC (new Version). I was being very careful about removing everything. Then i snapped a plastic extension coming out of the AST. I remember that there are AST elimination kits out there. However, i dont feel like waiting, so i connected the bottom and middle hose on the AST (middle is the one i broke) with a brass rubber hose coupler and 2 small hose clamps, and left the top hose that is right by the cap there, (traced it and just went to the filler on the bottom far left of the car for the coolant(so i said dont need it). My question is, is this safe, or should i order an aluminum AST.

Also, Anybody who does an intercooler install, be extremely carefull around the AST. The damn thing is a piece of garbage, it broke so easy, dont see how it stayed ok for 113,000 miles.

Anyone who has done this, or knows anything, would greatly appreciate a response. Thank you for reading my post.

Instead of the alum AST, you can get a J spec AST that is made of better platic. It looks the same as the stock one but is more durable. It has a bronze hue to the black pastic after you use it. It sells for $130. There is supposed to be a reason that the AST is shaped like a box w/ some of the curves. It supposely helps to trap/remove air bubble better than a cylinder shape.

Spooledup7 can make the a metal AST that retains the stock shape. Problem is he needs about 10 buyers for him to make a run of his ASTs.

Don't drive it as is. U now have no control of coolant pressure, and could ruin the engine.

Get a new ast, or do a proper bypass, or park it.
