Exclamation 3K hesitation and ECU

I am convinced my 3k hesitation is within the ECU. I have done a lot of testing / rewiring, grounding etc. Anyone come to the same conclusion? Have you come up with something or what ECU to use. I under stand the standalone cure the problem but just need input on the standard factory ECU. Maybe using a non-US ECU?? Anyone have an ECU which didn't have the 3K problem.

There are a lot of theories on the 3K Hesistation.

What is for certain, you can program just about anything out using a programmable ECU.

Nobody's sure. I have a theory that some circuitry or grounding within the stock ECU goes bad. You'd need some electronics experience to poke around the circuit board and find the 'bad' component, if that's even possible. Which is why piggyback (reprogramming) doesn't fix it, only a standalone will fix it.

When I switched to M2 Stage3 ECU I got the hesitation. Before I didnt have it with stock ECU.

Draw your own conclusions.

I used to have the 3K stumble, then I switched to the PFC and it disappeared, then I switched back to the stock ECU for emissions testing and the stumble was gone. Left it for a couple of days and no sign of it. Anyone else have a similar experience?

I had it for years and tried all the extra grounds, etc. that have been said to help with no success. Then I switched to the PFC and haven't had it happen since. There may be other ways to solve it, but the PFC seems to be a sure bet (from my experience and other reports) and really makes the car run smoother in general.

some harness wires are cut when the pfc is installed, iirc. did these remain cut when the stock ecu was put back in?

xs eng'g chip was supposed to help 3k stumble ... I think it just richened the heck out of the maps near 3k.

Just like Max and "Salamander," I too had the 3K stumble that disappeared after the PFC (w/ pins clipped) install. Similarly, when I went though emissions I had popped the stock ECU back in (to operate the EGR) and MR. Stumble was back again, taunting me. I spent almost three years grounding everything till I caved and bought the PFC. I really wish I had gotten it sooner....lots of time wasted fiddling.
