i knocked out a few small projects recently and took some pics...well the taillights need a bit more work but they're almost done.

first the kill switch. i ordered it from flaming river, got the keyed one for extra security. here's a pic of the mount that it came with, mounted:

and here's the kill switch with the battery in there, you can see the key on top. i just ran my current pos. batt cable to the switch, then bought a 6ft one to run from the other post on the switch to the battery. works great. and yes, i leave a wrench in the bin because i have that many battery problems.

now the cruise. i don't know what i'll do with the space but i never use cruise and it was so easy to remove. that one plastic clip near where it hooks up to the throttle was a pain, so i just bashed it with a hammer until it exploded. if anyone can tell me how to get at the 2 screws holding the bracked the plastic thing was stuck it i'll remove it. besides that its like 3 10mm(?) bolts and thats it. oh and the electrical connector

great write up. my additions. do NOT pry the cover off after you heat the adhesive. it should come off easy enough if you heat it properly. also, use a towel or wear gloves because after you blow 1000deg air on stuff, obviously its hot.

also, after you think you've applied enough coats of paint try shining a flashlight thru the back before you remove your circles. that way you know if you have enough paint on. i had to cut more circles and spray more coats, 3 was not enough. then when i did that a bit of paint got under the contact paper so i have a bit of fine tuning left. hopefully i can scratch it clear with a blade or scrub with a toothbrush and some paint thinner or something

also, i labeled the bulbs after i removed the taillights so i was certain to get the right ones in the right spot.

here's the back of an intact taillight. you can see the screws that you need to remove. they are screwed right thru where the adhesive is, thats the part you need to heat up.

here's what they looked like after my first 3 coats. they came out great, except there wasn't enough paint to keep the light from shining thru.

total cost for the taillights was maybe $45 tops.

heat gun from home depot racing = $25
spray paint from HDR = $~$5 (?)
circle cutter from craft store = $5
contact paper from craft str = $3 (?)
ghetto fab'd 99 taillights = priceless
