It will make the car understeer into corners, unlike with the 13B or a V6 or V8 because they are short motors. The straight six is a lot longer and moves more weight past the front wheels, making understeer.
If u enjoy the good handling, I'd put the rotary back in, or a V-configured short motor.
If u want a fast drag car, put the 2JZ in.

Wow, surprised this thread came back, I went out there last night, hes finishing up a few cars atm. He will be paying for a tranny for me today, stock motor and twins going in for now till he does that other rx7 in the next month or so. If that car does well, ill go ahead with the swap, if it doesnt, ill just have this rotary built. Ive been thinking alot about balancing, and I remembered that I have the battery relocate and no front bumper support. This should help offset the extra forward weight of the 2jz. Ill have it balanced out with weights on the frame to get back the 50/50. Really excited now, shouldnt be more than 2 months away.

Honestly if you think about it for the hardcore rotary guys like what i used to be it cost's alot to build an engine every few months or get a raplcement with when, if you drop a 2j into it you'd save some cash on the long run and produce more power at a more reliable rate ...


I love rotaries hands down... would never put a domestic engine into a 7 ( V8 ) but however i'd put the 2jz if i could

i reckon that you dont do it. i like cars that have engine conversions from the same manufacter (rb26dett in rps13's, 2jzs in altezzas or lexus is300's etc.) and (im my opinion) doing things like chucking in ls1s or any other odd engine is fucked up. but if your keen on a conversion why dont you build up a 26b, or if your rich enough (or are as crazy as we new zealanders are) build up a genuine r26b quad rotor? if your interested le me know!

any way thats only my opinion, no need to listen to me, but like the other guys say its up to you and what you want

but you did say "ADVISE ME" so heres my advice: put together a quadrotor of some sort, doesnt matter how you go at it (pp port, street port, 12 a, 13b, or r26b, turbo or n/a etc. youll still have a unique one off engine.) use a custom built one piece eccentric shaft to put your engine together and go have some fun, get popular, have lots of guys asking noob questions like "where can you get a quad rotor kit?" and get sick of replying "you cant just get one you gotta build it!" like every american, australian, mexican guy keeps asking me over the internet... (no offence but its good people want to do this type of thing to their mazda)

i reckon you just do it for the individuality, be crazy!, be unique!

This might actually be a nice way to fill the two loves i have for the rx7 and the supra.

did i miss something here? did i read something wrong? u are waiting for this work because somebody can't tune your engine? what's wrong with your engine? i say pick up all your stuff, rebuild, repair whatever is nec, i wouldn't wait another day, nobody's in a hurry to do this unless your wallett is wide open, i say tell everybody to stop ****** u around & do it yourself then take to a ROTARY tunner for a tune. in 4 years i'm sure you could have learned alot & repaired it yourself. just my opinion, i always try to figure it out myself, then theres only myself to blame

I'm reading this post and noticed that you live in Fort Walton. You need to contact Fighters Garage in Pensecola. Not only do they have a factory trained Mazda mechanic, they also have Dale Clark...and they have a shop too. At least look them up. 4 years without your RX7? I'd be going nuts.

If anyone wants pics or info on that r26b rx7, im guessing its FOURRE (plate) and its a NZ rx7. It runs a quad rotor pp NA making around 600 hp. Also does 9 sec quarter. My google aint working (fukd I know) otherwise i'd put pics up. It could be a different one however.

As for the swap, this post is a year or so old so it would be great for some feedback on the authors eventual desicsion if one has been made!

I would take the 2jz, IMO it is more reliable at Higher HP, and you can push more out of it with the same turbo and fuel. If mine goes out and money allows i would rather go the 2jz route rather then the 13b or lsx swap.
