26B 4-rotor
26B 4-rotor
I saw a thread recently about a guy who put a 4 rotor 26B in his FD. It sounded incredible! I was so inspired that I went around looking for any info I could find on the 26B, but not much luck. Does anyone know of a company that makes this engine? Is it even street legal? I want one so bad it hurts, but I'm sure it would hurt my bank account too if I was actually able to find one.

What about making my own, by buying seperate peices like rotor housings, etc. and building it myself. This might take alot of time seeing as nobody probably has a kit out there for me.
If anyone can do it, these guys can.

If not, I know where youcan get one for ~$100k.
I guess this is another one of those threads.....

You're in ATL.. Jim Downing has more 4 rotor engines than Mazda do.. I was told block is about 100+K. Are you going to turbo charge it?? you are looking at some serious cash.. And tuning.. Hmm.. that would be interesting..
kiwi-re can make you a bastard 4-rotor 13B...but not a 26B
there are so many details that make a 26B different from a 13B...like standard dry sump, the cooling system, the custom rotor housings (with two trailing plugs, one leading)
etc etc, to get a true 26B from mazda, it's more than you can afford...they only sell to known customers, like rick engman- that they've been doing business with for over 20years...you can't just call mazda north america and ask for a 26B...you have to know who to call
stick to a 20B...when and IF, you get bored with that...start saving that money

Good advise, There's no way I can afford 100k for a motor. I was going to go with the 20b, but I couldn't resist the thought of having a monster like a 26b. Could a 4 rotor 13b even fit in an FD?
yes, it can...but not cheaply, you'll spend a good $2500-$3000 on a subframe to hold the four rotor, then you need a custom interior for the shifter to be in the right location
scoot's is built off a 12A....aka, really small, and they adjusted the timing of the rotors to make it sound wicked...and they make up for the size of the motor with a huge turbo, mostly show on that car, but no doubt...sounds good

same rotors are in a 20B i believe
but not in the 26B...the combustion surface in a 26B is shaped to favor one side more than the other....
some of the 26B stuff also has double side seals and anywhere from 2mm-5mm apex seals, depending on how it is ordered and what it is designed for

So turbocharged 20b wouldn't to bad at all then, and since I refuse to sell my house so I can buy a 26b it sounds even better to look into a 3 rotor. But, along with engine management upgrades and motor mounts what else should I set aside some cash for? Would a 20b hook up to a stock tranny?
26b motor
You guys are missing the point of this car 1.3 liter two turbos. a crap load of power. tweak the 13b and it can make over 1000 hp before you spend the same amount of money on a big motor if you want a big motor put a chevy 350 in your car. remember hp to weight ratio.....
it's great to smoke a car that has 4 times the liters of your little 1.3 liter motor.

For these prices, who really cares? It's not like hardly anyone on this forum can afford to do it. I hope this doesn't become the 'post of the week' topic now. There's numerous 4 rotor posts floating around already..
This car is on it's third 13b engine I'm not exactly sure I want to burn this one up too. If I were to do everything I wanted to on this car the engine would be under considerable stress. Not only do I want power but also reliability. Can I have both with a 13b?
