2021 US based PFC Commander Repair?

My OLED commander is going dim. I would normally send it to Michael Gagne and call it a day, but as of late he is taking a sabbatical.

Are there any US based repairmen? I know of a guy that does repairs in Europe, but I am not crazy about having to deal with the shipping that goes with that.

Howdy Steve -

I think someone on FB was posting about doing them, may also want to message Michael on FB, I think he knows of someone else that is doing them.

You could try giving rx7.com a call. I seem to remember that they do some PFC related repairs (or have a shop they work with that does)

Should probably add "OLED" to title for better visibility and the fact that there are 2 versions of commanders...

I don't offer the service but its not too hard to do the way i did it if you have some soldering skills

I ended up sending it to Petros. I bought a new one, while I was waiting for it to come back. I plan on selling one of the commanders after I get it back. The ironic part is that I am thinking about switching ECUs, so I may have two for sale now.

I sent mine to someone in Australia last year, he only charge me $150 to fix it including shipping back to me.

Yeah the fact that the new Commanders ALL have screen problems sucks big time. Hell the old Commanders have screens that fade to unreadable over the years and they weren't that great to begin with.

I REALLY REALLY wish they would have put the Commander into the packaging they used for the SuperAFC and AVC-R -

My AVC-R was purchased used around 15 years ago. Has zero screen issues and works perfectly. Also the form factor is SO much better for mounting - let's be honest, we all just use the Commander as a gauge 99% of the time, we are never doing "tuning" on them.

I've thought that it would be cool to take a Super-AFC and some how hack it to work as a Commander but my electronic skills are nowhere near that advanced.

This one?
https://www.rx7club.com/power-fc-for...ation-1127829/

Its one of the first ones in Power FC section
I don't see it for sale yet, but seems like some lucky ones got the prototype...
Would love if someone actually finished it and sold it though, sigh...

It looks like it uses some old school lcd display.
I personally like OLED contrast and how it looks. Yeah it sucks they die but once you fix mirroring once you're done with hard part and future replacements will cost $20-30 and hopefully technology advanced far enough that they'll last longer. You don't see smartphone screens dying and a lot of them use OLED screens.

This is the one with LCD screen, much easier to do and Michael still does those repairs
