Question 2003 FD3S (aluminum special edition)

http://rextreme.blogspot.com/2002/08/al-special.html

quoting the article:

The aluminium special, produced by Mazda in 2003 for the motor show and auto salon, is a prized posession. Where did it go? What happened to it? Who knows? It is potentially the last special Fd3s produced in the Mazda factory.

The Exterior panels including front and rear fenders, doors and bonnet were all produced in aluminum, which when added to the base, lightened the RX-7. Armed with the B-Spec aero parts and the engine from the latest up-to-date Spirit R makes this Fd3s a one of a kind special.

The front fenders are actually 25mm wider each side to accomodate the larget rims and the weight was reduced considerably.

Anybody else heard of this???

I think we have a new unicorn.

Boy, you thought YOUR body panels dented easily.

Seriously though, more info and pictures, especially on those 25mm wider front fenders would be great.

No dude, some guy on the forum had it. I believe he performed an LS1 swap on it and then wrapped it around a tree. Search over.

Alum dosent actually dent that easily. My GTR (R32) had alum hood and front fenders. They put up to quite a bit of abuse.

Everyone is quick to dismiss when you can't google it in english.

Do you're own research and it's there. That's why I started MY blog.
Mostly to inform on info that happens in Japan.

Here is you're more info if you really need proof.

It is on the Mazda Japan website.

Nice! If it was all aluminum, it would eliminate the stock bumper sagging issue. Why didn't they mass produce this?? Because when someone backs into it at less than 5MPH, it would rebound back?? LOL!
