2 quick questions please help

1. i took off thermostat housing bout a month ago ,too tap the housing to add an aftermarket guage. but i got the guage in the states and over hear the taps availible are only metric. so i dont wanna leave the car coolentliss any more as its winter so my question is which way does it go in and what direction does the tab go? newbie question i no but id rather make sure first.

2. what pressure (nm) are the engine dampers at.i no they would range its just my mate has a fue industrial dampers and i might make up some brackets and try it out if specs are good.

thanks for the speedy reply i think the ones my mate has are 250/300 nm .
also any ideas or pics of thermostat or do u no the direction its to go when being replaced or put back together? thanks again
