that's weird but it is easy enough to switch out the seats. note the color of the carpet (black or beige). maybe that will give you some clues as to the origin of the black seats.

It must be a base model

There were no montego Rs, and montego touring only came with tan seats and carpet. The montego base has a black interior....nice combo, since you get the blue without that nasty tan stuff.

I have a 94 Montego with Black cloth interior and it looks great. I looked at the Montegos with Tan leather interiors and I would personally get the Black cloth cause you won't see all the leather cracks on the tan seats. And, Tan is ugly as hell on a darker car.

Actually if all that tan is the seats and carpet it look awsome in Montego blue!!!!! It looks much more refined than any other color combination in the FD except maybe silver/black. I do agree though with the full tan interiors, I dont like the tan doors, ect.... but that just me I'm sure someone else likes it.

I have a 95 Montego and it has tan carpet/seats, everything else is black. If its a base model it prob has cloth and all cloth seats are black. If the carpet is tan then someone prob switched the seats.

BTW - The tan leather seats can remain in very nice condition if they are taken care of. I use leather lotion about once a month on mine and they still look awsome!!!

Oh yea, if you call Mazda and give them the vin they can prob tell you what kind of seats it would have come with.

Later,

I have a montego PEP 95. Black seats, spoiler, cd. I like these seats much better than leather especially in the summer.
