1993 RX-7 Driver's Side Window Power Switch Not Working

The Driver's Side Window switch on my car stopped working yesterday.

I took it out to try and fix it and I did partially. It will only raise the window and not lower it. Is there something else I need to try?

Or do I need to buy another one? If anyone is selling please reply. I'm referring to this:

expect these things to go out on a 18+ year old car. This happenend to me too and found that contacts in the switch were dirty and after cleaning them, my window worked fine. It wouldn't hurt to lube the window tracks and clean moving mechanisms so the window gets the least resistance going up or down.

Hope its just the contacts...good luck

I had a similar problem on my car recently. Drivers side would go down but not up, unless I applied direct power to the motor. I did some extensive testing of all cabling and it turned out the switch was fine, there was a problem with a ground somewhere. I haven't had time to go back and finish the repair/diagnosis but I suspect its either a wiring fault or something is shorting on the actual motor/regulator side of things (more likely).

I suggest you take a meter and just check the switch is ok and that its not something further down the chain - might save you some time and effort!

if the plastic part of the switch is broken then you need a new one.

unfortunately the assembly isnt sold seperately meaning you get the electronics along with the plastic. malloy sells them.

Try wiggling the wires in the rubber boot that run from the door to the front of the chassis while working the window switch.
If it works then you probably have a dodgy connection somewhere, as is the case with my car and a few other cases iv read about.

Exactly....there are two tiny weakass plastic tabs that fit in between two grooves that apply pressure via tabs to the up or down switchs. More than likely the tabs are broken.....

happened to me on my passenger side, plastics tabs inside are probably broken, I was able to salvage mine and super glue it together and works, just have to be careful with it.
