1993 FD Roller gutted is this worth $2k **PICS INSIDE**

Guy over here is selling his 93 FD rolling shell and its gutted pretty bad.
Clean title car didnt check carfax etc yet.
Dont know if this is a base or a R1 maybe you guys can help me with that.

Pretty much everything under the hood is missing, interior is also stripped the car is loaded with parts so bad you can barely open the doors without something falling out.

He states the dashboard, headlights, carpet and a bunch of the interior pieces are there. Door panels are missing and I'm sure quite a bit more out of the interior is missing as well.

He was asking $3k now he's down to $2k I'm wondering what your input is and if you guys think that this car in this state is worth the money.

Onto the pictures:

If you are prepared to spend a lot of time and money tracking down all the parts to complete it, it will be worth it.

The best part of getting a basket case like this, is you will be able to make it exactly what you want it to be!

Thanks Vince.

The issue I'm running into is figuring out how much money would still need to be invested to get it back in shape. Don't want to shoot myself in the foot and get in over my head with this car.

Does $2k sound like a reasonable starting point for this condition?

If you want to keep it gutted and turn it into a pure track/race car, yes it's worth it. If you are planning to have a street car, IMO if you are asking here if you should do it; that means you shouldn't.

It would take much more than $8k... In turn, why not find a decent car for $10k+. You will spend a fortune tracking everything down.

Been down that road buying a turnkey car. Back in 2006 sold a 93' touring for $12k wish I wouldn't have sold it. Now I want another one...

Im in Hawaii these cars are extremely rare here esp. in stock good condition. This is the only FD for sale in the whole state.

Damn was planning on this being a street car too DD like my old one was...

It might be ok if your happy to have no interior and a single turbo, and put the work in yourself?

Getting all the parts to rebuild it to stock would be a real mission and probably not worth it.
There will be so many little things you cant even comprehend that you need.

Single turbo and no interior/ minimum required interior would be the way forward with that shell if you want to use it I think. (no idea about your laws, don't know if your allowed to drive a stripped out interior on the road or not)

Anything can be done though. No reason you cant make that car into a DD if you have time and its all you have to work with.
Sounds like you cant be too picky over there! So its all about how much you want to make it work.

I would go get a complete car, unless you have a lot of time in your hands.

it took me 10000 to get my car running , when I bought my shell and it was in similar shape to this one .

My build thread -> https://www.rx7club.com/build-thread...-story-973406/

things just add up specially the small things .

So far i'm at 20k into the car and still doesn't even have a paintjob .

It is a labor of love. If you check out my thread, you can see where I started with a nearly complete car. I was doing a quick add up of everything I've "bought" for it, excluding from Ray Crowe, and I've nearly got $4000 in it.

Granted most of the stuff is "upgrades", power fc/intercooler/radiator etc. However, tracking down all the small odds and ends stuff is time consuming and does add up quite a bit in $.

BUT, IF you can find some deals, it can be well worth it. Just a thought, of you got a front clip, you would have nearly everything if you were interested in a RHD conversion

Thanks for your input guys.

I viewed both of your build threads and your cars are coming along nicely! You guys are making it happen. If I can get in touch with a few people that have FD graveyards with a lot of parts or scour the classifieds on here I should be able to piece it together in time.

Just taking a gamble on a eBay full engine swap with trans and the whole nine yards looks like it may be a bad idea.

However, you do make a valid point. You could, in a perfect world put that drivetrain in for nearly the same price if you catch some deals. Also, those engines may be easier to find locally

Samburg (spelling?) makes the swap hardware you'd need for that.

FD Roller

It all depends on your plans, the interior pieces will be the hardest items to find. In most cases they will need to be refinished. It really doesn't matter what you do to it you will spend more money on this roller than you will to buy a complete car and have it shipped in. But, what will be nice at the end is you will have a car that represents your vision and that can be priceless. Good luck with whatever choice you make.

You can spend more in the long haul, or have a project you put your heart into and work on and Nickle and dime. Are you going to be able to save 15k for a built car ?

Option 3: buy the roller and sell it to someone else for a small profit (e.g., $500+). It's still a reasonable deal. Everbody wins, and one more FD lives on.

The money you make on the sale goes towards an FD you can drive.

Been in discussions with the owner.

I offered him $1500 for everything as is. He's playing hardball says he has to get $2000. Story is he bought what you see for $6500 and the seller told him that he would supply the rebuilt engine and transmission and all the missing parts.

He never did and this guy got screwed so he's stuck on $2000 for that reason I guess. If this deal goes through I'm gonna contact Fritz Flynn and see what kind of parts he has to help me with.

I've done quick math I should be able to complete this car for around $10k

You are going to be paying shipping on all the parts you need to complete this project.

Are you sure it wouldn't cost the same to pay shipping on a complete FD?

This car would be a great racecar project, but where would you race it on the island?

If you want to turn this into a FD with interior, etc that is nice to drive- don't try.

Get a nice FD imported.

Shipping the parts isn't really an issue.

I would drive this on the street no problem even if from the seats back was fully gutted.
