FL 1993, AC Not Turning On

Ive tried to problem solve this but im getting lost in the the schematic for the 94 wiring on the ac (not sure if its the same as the 93 too).

The ac was working without issue but just recently it wont kick on. Ive noticed the little amber light is not coming on when I press the ac button. It seems that all the other functions work like the blower speeds, climate control, and the air locations.

Ive grounded the ac relay on the pass side and it will kick the ac compressor on...Im trying to rule everything out to see if my ac button went.

Is there a specific wire behind the dash or under the pass kick panel I can ground or put 12 volts to that will verify the button is or is not working?

I really appreciate it!

have you checked to see if you have enough freeon , if the pressure switch does not sense the correct ammount of freon , it wont kick on .

also remember if you have a 93 it more then likely has R12 freon

Are you getting low speed radiator fans when you turn the A/C on? Since the button ain't lighting up, I'm guessing they are not coming on.

If you are getting fans, follow the troubleshooting guide on page G-22 of the BETM (Body Electrical Troubleshooting Manual).

If not, then follow the troubleshooting guide on page G-24.

Im still trying to problem solve this issue. Thanks for the link too btw. Off hand, does anyone know which wires light up the actual ac button itself? Im not sure if thermo switches just go or not but its hard to think that it would...if that doesnt work would the ac light not even turn on?

I believe those "wires" are internal to the controls in the dash....

Check fuses first if you have not taken the car apart and have no reason to think it is a wiring issue.

As JM1FD indicated the switches are part of the heater control panel, which to get to them you need to take the panel out. Which means you need to remove the gauge hood, shifter panel and then finally the heater control panel. There are 3 connectors on the back which plug into the controller boards. You could have a component that failed on the controller board but I would check all other avenues first. Good luck and keep us posted on what you find.
