I am soon making a Engine rebuilding video for the 3rd-gen RX-7.
I own a Professnial broadcast television camera package that I use for my business/work. I shoot for NBC News, CBS Sports and have done a couple documantery series for TLC and PBS and so on.
I don't know of any engine rebuild video out for the 3rd-gen RX-7. I plan to stage my car to do the engine break down a pull sequence. And hopefully use KD rotary for the engine breakdown and rebuilding sequence if not someone else. Which ever way I do it, will be done by the book.

The completed video will cost around $35-40 each.
I just want to get your input on doing this.

that would be great! I would deffinately want to add it to my rotary knowledge. There already has been a great rotary video out there, you might want to see it to get an idea of things you might want and not want to do.

It would be great if you got KD rotary involved, good advertising for him and from a reliable source--win win.

I suggesst you get some ideas on what topics people want to see in a video.

I would love learn more about all the tuning ratios and porting techniques., I am sure there are more.

That's the feedback I need. Because if its worth doing it, I will do it, and it will be a learning project for me too. My goal is to try and take the mystery out of to rotary rebuild. Which fairly easy compared to a piston engine rebuild which I've done a couple of times.

I took a look at that other rebuild video and my video will take a different turn than his. Like intake and exhuast/wategate Porting, Etc. like you said. But after the rebuild i am thinking of taking the video alittle further. Like a tech. track session, proper way of launching the 3rd-gen and so on.

Hey Manny,

Sounds like a great idea. Even though you may not get overwhelming responses right now, once the video is complete and ready to ship I'm sure the orders will start pouring in.

Most people like myself will end up eventually just rebuilding the motor on our own instead of having a shop perform the work. The money saved is actually less important than the knowledge/experience gained. Besides, I think the most of us are much more settled knowing how well the job was done.

In fact if the video does turn out well I can set you up with a shop that would be interested in helping you sell the videos.

I just talked to Dave today and seems to like the ideal too! And possibly star in the Video. So it's a partical go , I have to get Dave to weld my Turbos to non-seg mode and that day we will talk.

I'd buy it just to learn more about the car. The extra ideas sound cool, maybe some setup info (seq,nonseq,single) lets us know when it's ready!

 

I will start a mailing list today and i will add everyone that has interest in buying a video. The completed video will be on a VHS copy. Sorry no DVD's becuase duplication cost would be too high, unless people will group buy and i will look into it.

I`d be interested in a video. And perhaps you could do another companion video on porting. Also if we wanted a DVD could we pay you extra to copy the video onto a DVD? Or would it be easier for us to get it done ourselves after we get the video from you?

If this video takes off right I will do more in indepth videos on other mods like porting, single turbos, etc.
A couple of people where asking about the DVD's. It is possible for me to do it but it will cost more which I am not sure how much yet. If I get enough people requesting DVD's I will look into it but for now it's going to be on VHS.
