Exclamation 1992 EFINI Rx7 owners, I need your help!!

Hello,

Do any of you on here own a 1992 "Efini" Rx7 from Japan that carries the jdm vin starting with "FD3S-"? If any of you do, could you send me a picture of your drivers side door jamb (the right hand door jamb). I need to see the sticker that says color and the other stuff. What I really need to see is the DATE OF MANUFACTURE. I am importing a 1992 Efini into the states and it was painted and they removed to label. I can't import it unless I have a date of manufacture to send to Mazda for my importation letter I need from them. Any help would be great!

-Alex

Mazda won't give you what you are expecting...No manufacturer will say the RHD car is identical to the LHD...

RHD rx7s are not legal for importation until they are 25 years old.
End of story.

I have a 92 Efini RHD. I can take pictures of the sticker but these guys are right. Your not going to be able to import it. In Nov 09 US Customs regs changed in importing RHD into the US. basically you can't unless it's 25 yrs old. If you do and are successfull please let me know b/c I'd like to take mine back but it's not happening.

Thanks for all your Input guys. I was able to get in contact with an engineer for Mazda in Japan this afternoon and he was able to send me a pdf of all the Japanese info on my car including the date of manufacture. Does anyone here have a link to the 2009 Legislation?

I was able to call Mazda's office in Japan and speak to someone there. I gave him a VIN and he sent me an email stating the car's specific date of manufacture.
There's an online calculator that will provide an estimate based on a car's VIN also. My car's official date and the one estimated by the calculator were exactly the same.

Here's a copy of the email I received:

Same as my jams and under the hood, no date anywhere:

Your VIN will tell you the date of Manufacture, I forget but mine was early in the year.

There's also a metal plate on the firewall with the VIN

Thanks guys I got the date of manufacture for the car. It's 1991/11/29.
Does anyone have a link to the legislation that says RHD are not importable.
Because my March 26 2010 paperwork does not say anything about RHD being a problem.

Also, find out the last time the car was "shaken" (compulsory inspections) will tell more if the car is in good driving order!

http://www.nhtsa.gov/cars/rules/import/elig010807.pdf

It is widely known that they aren't legal...Exact same thing as skylines, The only RX7 that is eligible for import is the LHD versions...

Tell me about it, I was held in customs & immigration in Niagara Falls NY for 3 hours on my way DGRR because they wanted to make sure I was not selling the car while I was in the U.S. Huge grey market from Canada to the U.S. and it did not help I was in group of 3 7's and 1 RX-8, so they thought I had a ride home he-he. Bastards. I hope next year I'll have less problems now that I'm in the system! @#%!

I felt like a terrorist, the only other persons being held were of middle eastern descent and me & doug both of british descent.

Why does Mazda say it was built in 95? if you say the car is a 92?

92 FD's have a build date of late 91 early 92
