I've gone 167 or so. Then I ran out of road. There were still rpm's left, and it was still pulling. I've since added 100hp. I would assume it would go13mph faster. -BN

Depends on the distance from the trees, and the camera mode. I can take a photo while moving and it'll be completely clear. While in a different mode, everything is blurry.

raising it

I have been going 140ish in my FD .. and would not feel comfortable taking my hand of the wheel to adjust.. what exactly is he worried about changing at that speed anywyas? the vent position?

edit - PLUS lookit the tach? how many RPMS he have left anyways???

I vote one for photoshop

I am gonna try and find that top speed thread, you can show them that. They will have to claim about 4 pages of BS then.

he would have to take his hand off the wheel or at least move it to get a shot of the tach from that angle

all i have to say is where were you guys or they doing this? I mean 180 is crazy fast and without the correct aerodynamics your front end can easily lift up and just take your car flipping!

Also on the 1st pic..i really do hope the other hand was on the steering wheel. And he had too much fuel on the gauge lol...the 2nd pic looked about right wiht the fuel gauge

Oh that's not me LOL
and it IS a dyno pic.

180 isn't hard to do in an FD. Finding a hwy that is:
1) straight
2) no cops
3) clean of traffic or stupid people
is what makes it difficult.

I'm pretty sure that's a dyno run unless he's driving on the salt flats...I took a picture in a tunnel on the autostrada in Italy at around 113 and that was scary as hell.

On a side note...I've been over 170 a couple of times in Germany. Only hit about 160 in Italy...these guys (Italians) pull in front of you in a heart beat...whereas Germans are very rule oriented on the autobahn.

Here's the link for the autostrada...the first pic is what you're more likely to run into:

I have run about 175 in my car, racing a souped up Viper too no less. Not much else that can keep up. Anyways, it was scary, but its all in good fun,

No stock FD ever tested by ANY major magazine ever went more than 168. Most came in around 162.
Granted there are always cars that just inherently have a little more oomph, but anyone with any intelligence realizes what drag does, and how much hp it takes to gain even 5 let alone 10 or more mph.

Multiple threads here have been devoted to top speed claims. A good portion of them are total bullshit fed by testosterone addled teenie boppers that don't know ****!

Like always I have just asked everyone to NOT make embarrassingly stupid claims about the FD's performance.
Reminds me of the time I was gassing up and a group of teenagers came over, oohed and ahhed over my car, the inevitable, "So, how fast is that bad boy?" came up, and when I said that I had taken it to low to mid 150s, these guys were like, "**** man...that's slow! My brother's old Mustang does that! I heard RX-7s could go almost 200!"

150 mph is slow?
I doubt these punks had ever been over 120 in anything. Sheesh, it just kills me to hear total car ignorance.

It takes a modded FD to get 180, from what I have seen here, from people that I trust to know their ****, my guess is that about 350 to 375 rwhp is needed.
So yeah, it IS possible. Just not common at all.

I know a guy that dynoed 342rwhp and has reached 180mph, so....

Ditto on the teenee bopper thing. Ever Since F&TF came out, the first question of conversation always seems to be "Yo, u gat naws?"

I got NAWSSSS!! I have only been to about 120 and I was more scared about getting caught than crashing. Limit was 65 and 120 = 55 over
