Arrow 13B Remans fresh from assembly in Japan

Just thought I would pass this along . Was speaking with Ray Crowe at Malloy about ordering some misc parts for my FD and vert. He mentioned that he just received a large shipment of fresh remans built in Japan. They come with a metal front cover gasket, and he told me that the build quality is much better than those assembled here in the U.S. He wasn't positive on the apex seals, but said they are most likely 2 piece. I didn't think to ask on the price (my FD is running like a champ) but give him a call if you need any more details.

Who knows, maybe Santa will bring you a nice shiny spare motor for Christmas this year

how does he know the build quality is "much better"?

Ray is a great guy, but he looks at the outside of the motors from what I understand

Just look to see if anything has been painted. If it has paint then it is used. Mazda does not reuse any internal seals. Hope this helps!

Hey, what is this guys number? I am in search of an FD and have found a couple but one of which might need a new motor soon. So if someone knows his number that would be much appreciated.

Yup, I misunderstood Ray. These are *brand new* motors, down to the last bolt. He will take some off the price if you send him a core. There is only one left (rest already sold today) so act fast. He told me retail on these bad boys is over $7k, although he sells them for much less.

I think Ray is asking 4750 without a core which isn't too bad for a completely new perfectly assembled engine.

However I'll just wait for the next great little sports car to come down the pipeline before I feed my hungry FD anything that tasty

There are so many cool cars currently available and more that are coming out. What a great time to be a car nut.

$4,200.00 is a Mazda employe discounted price. $4,700.00 makes alot more sense to me.

With what I have seen over the years, unless I have personally clearanced them or watched them being clearanced, I wouldn't bet on it

Just to chime in.. I have wondered for quite some time now why Mazda does not hire Steve or another reputable builder to "teach" the reman companies HOW to build a stock 13B. I am not talking about tuning and porting secrets, just what you are Rich, proper clearencing on the seals is a must do . and relativly easy. Just takes time Maybe talk to them about hiring you as a consultent

Update: As of January 14, Ray at Malloy had four more of the new motors in stock. He had six, but two of them were sold that day. Ray said that he did not expect to get any more new motors. So, if you have any interest in a new motor vs. Mazda reman vs. other rebuild, then I suggest that you check with Ray as soon as possible.

Yeah, I was one of the people to just buy one of the new engines from Ray, got it for $4000 and he is giving me $700 for the core return after shipping charges (which is around $100 for me). The engine looks really nice, haven't got it all the way hooked up and running yet though.
