If I were to look at it in just a cosmetic point of view, i would to stay with the FD 13B-REW. The runners looks better imo. I wish they had made a 20B with the FD style runner but if i were to have the option to get one, you wouldnt here my complain.

What benifit , if any with my half bridged REW and TA 51 ? , I happened to come across the parts (Cosmo LIM , UIM and 20B TB ) in a trade , I am wondering if the "trouble " would be worth it . ?

Marcell...in all seriousness...Next time you pull apart the motor, port it to cosmo 13B intakes and put it on. I felt a NICE top end difference...with your bridge and bigger turbo, you should benefit more than me.

so you are saying that for a car that has like 400 WHP, going through the trouble the Re intake isn't worth it?

Can the rotor housing from a REW be matched with the rest of the engine of a RE?

Are the motor mounts on the FD bolting on the rear housing, meaning that you couldn't bolt a RE in an FD?

Sorry for all the questions, this thread is great.

just found a pic with the motor mounts, and they really bolt up on the rear housing.

So basically, it is easier to port match the intake housings of the FD than to try to install the RE ones, is that it? Otherwise, you would have to do something custom with the motor mounts.

Is the water path and bolt pattern the same on both engines?

If you do an RE motor, you will need custom motor mounts. I can point you in the right direction there. The pics up on the forum are of my car. They bolt to the sides as opposed to the bottom of the engine like on the FD. You'll need to discard the RE oil pan and use the REW oil pan. That'll require that the two "pass through" holes on the FD's oil pan be filled in. Those holes are for the motor mount bolts into the bottom of the engine. With the Cosmo, the mounting bolts are on the side so you won't need the ones on the oil pan.

The Cosmo UIM won't mate to the FC's LIM without an adapter and I don't believe the LIM will work with the FC either without mods.

I actually used my third gen manifold and just ported the lower portion instead of using the Cosmo upper. But Jspec is probably right; the Cosmo's larger runners would probably benefit with a big big turbo.

Puma, the rotor housings are the same on both the RE and the REW. The RE has smaller exhaust sleeves which should be removed and replaced with BT or REW sleeves.

The REW "PLATES" can be matched to the RE lower intake manifold with careful porting. Use a gasket to port match.

Honestly, in the end, you'll need to be fairly dedicated and looking for that 10/10ths to do either the intake manifold mod or the entire engine mod into a 2nd or third gen. It's a bit easier in the 2nd gen. Just my .02 cents :-)

You could also go Tec III or Microtech to run the cosmo motor.
