12 PSI on stock fuel/turbos

Is this okay?

I think I might be getting higher boost then normal due to the bolt missing in my downpipe to exhaust manifold connection....making the car loud, and acting like a midpipe. haha

On the stock fuel system? Sure

On the stock ECU? Not really

I think a vaccuum line popped off or something, because about a 8 months ago i had the same problem, found a solenoid with the line off, put it back on and voila got the 10 PSI I need, but still no secondary boost, so i found a few ripped I/c couplings, fixed those and still no secondary spool, but instead of 10 psi i get 12, hmmm if I dont get exactly 10 PSI will the solenoid still do the switch over to the secondary?

What kind of gauge are you using? You may want to get a second opinion.

My autometer was junk, it read 2 psi too high for over a year. Prolly why my motor lasted so long back them, lol

The autometer is really bad for ready too high. I trust my blitz boost controller over my boost guage.

You would be fine with 12 psi on the stock fuel if you were to upgrade to a Power FC. If you get the commander with it, it has a boost gauge on it. I trust that more then anything. I use my greddy boost gauge, just to make sure my boost doesnt spike or creep from where i want it.

Where does the gauge sit when the car is off?

If I'm not mistaken there were tons of threads stating that the PowerFC displayed the WRONG boost readings. It always understated (in the display not the map) the correct value. For that reason I use the Defi guage instead of the commander.

Recommend doing a search on the topic.

If it's not reading zero when the car is off, then yes your boost numbers are not going to be accurate.

Hate to break it to you guys, but Autometer are not the only gauges to ever come defective:

https://www.rx7club.com/3rd-generation-specific-1993-2002-16/question-about-defi-boost-gauge-322579/

The reason why people see more defective Autometer gauges verses everyone else, is that they manufacture a LOT more than the other companies.

If company #1 make 100,000 gauges and have 5% of them fail; that would be 5000 gauges. If company #2 made 20,000 gauges and had a 10% failure rate, that would be 2000 gauges. It was seem that company #2 was the better company as there are less failed gauges. However, their failure to manufactured ratio is MUCH higher. So, as the consumer, you are not always getting the full picture.

I have to say that my stepper-motor Autometer boost gauge is quite accurate. As a part of its normal operation, it resets the zero position every time the ignition is turned on.

Hell, I've got a Defi boost gauge that sits on the vacuum side (about 1 mark below zero). Does anyone have an accurate gauge?
