Well first of all I've only had the car back for maybe 2 weeks and not even entirely that because its been back in the shop for a variety of issues, some fixes, some new add ons that have come in. Also, these 2 weeks are the first time I've had a PowerFC to accurately read water temp.

I didn't notice any high temps the first 2 days after the original return of it but since I got it back times thereafter I have had problems. One problem ended in finding a coolant hose that had split (looks like it was severed by a pulley it got too close to). Then we pressure tested it and found a leak, fixed that. Made extra extra care all hoses were tightly secured, added some extra brackets, etc.

Assuming the temp issue had (wrongly) been solved, they went back to worrying about my turbos (2nd one is not spooling up now, previous low boost issues) and some other crap like Odometer, Fuel Pump, etc. I then asked for it back over the weekend to put some miles on it to break it in and because I miss it I figured as long as the temp was under control, I could drive it...turbo boost not a big issue since I can't get heavy on it anyways. They said it had been test running in the mid 90's which seemed acceptable considering the heat here.

Since yesterday when I got it back, it has been running 100+ after 5 minutes. It will stay at 103 or so on Interstae driving after a minute of nice cool air but in traffic it climbs to about 105-110. I drove it from my girlfriends house to my place (30 minute drive stop and go because of beach traffic) and I parked it at 113. It was evening so I'm getting really ticked off.

I want to find out what's wrong, aside from going to Evans which I'd love to try but later. Thanks for the offer but there is likely something else going on here which I want resolved. I don't seem to be losing coolant now but I can smell it (residue from before??). The car is hot, the oil is hot, and I'm *not* running it hard. Rarely above 4,000 rpm as I'm still breaking it in.

Just a little more on my particular issue...it's definitley A/C dependent.

I'm hitting 89C to 100C depending on outside temp with A/C off. Acceptable.

But with A/C, it starts rising and doesn't seem to want to stop! Highway will push it back down but otehrwise it climbs above 113 or so. I either stop driving it or get some highway miles on it before parking it.

20+ degrees C seems a lot for just the A/C's contribution.

tried some different stuff and it didnt work. went back to 30/70 coolant/distileld water and water weeter. still the same thing. it stayed a bit lower, but i get about 215 or so when driving. i used to see no more than 190 with the AC fan on but now its rising like never before. found one hose that was cracked and replaced it. i was an idiot and stopped there. i should have looked/replaced all the hoses. if it keeps up i may be taking the car to ricks to replace all the coolant lines and getting some evans, if it is that good. im frustrated with it and it scares me to drive it hard, even though i took first in class today, ASP. well enough ranting. must fix car.

Damn it has been hot here. And we get some rain but it just makes it really nasty. I wish we could stay in the 80's and under.

That chart above would be relevant for straight Ethylene Glycol. Which we all know is bad.

Please note - Evans coolant is Propylene Glycol which has much better performance (than EG) and improves as temperatures increase.

I just did not want anyone to think Evans was as bad as the above chart may have led you to believe.

WEll i live in charleston and an average day has temps in the low/mid 90's with 90% humidity and heat indexes in the mid 100's.

I have a huge FMIC (rx-7 fashion) and upgraded radiator and without A/C running my temps stay in the mid to upper 80's never topping 90, but i recently got my A/C fixed and now i regularly see temps over 100, depending on the fan setting of the A/C. With A/C on full blast 105-110 is not uncommon in slow moving traffic. I guess the A/C system (condenser?) is responsible for a good bit of heat.
