IT can be done in about the same amount of time it takes you to make another "could it be anything else??" post in this thread...then you will know for sure.

Mine starts fine until it gets hot then it takes a while to kick over. Get the compression check and ease your mind.

I have never, on any rx-7 I've worked on or owned, had a map sensor hose come off. Not saying it isnt possible, but it isn't the cure-all that many of you claim.

With all due respect to you, I have had one map sensor hose come off at high boost, one map sensor hose split at high boost and have personally saved three other guys from having heart attacks when I simply reattached the hoses. I understand you are pretty good at what you do, but with these symptoms, this is the easiest and cheapest inspection a man can do. If the hose has blown, it is at worst, a five minute fix, if not, no harm done. The symptoms described here are classic map sensor failure symptoms.

^^^ Yes happened beside me while racing not long ago. I thought for sure the motor was GONE!, but it was just the map sensor.
