Yeah, one of the recalls lowered the pressure from 1.3 to 0.9 Bar.

the system was designed to run at 1.3bar, the recall did lower the caps to .9. we have found it best to use 1.1.
the come on the 98+ 626's

has anyone blow a coolent line because of the increased pressure from the greddy 1.3 cap? (which is what I have now) my lines are almost all new, and almost all the worm clamps are new.

1.3 bar???

I just purchased a Greddy radiator cap and just installed it on my FD. All this talk is starting to freak me out like its going to mess up my car and i baby my car so much. So the question should i be worried about using a 1.3 bar radiator cap?

Well, Mazda did consider the 1.3bar too much and lowered it. I'll second Mike's comments that the 1.1 looks to be a good compromise compared to the 0.9 replacement caps. I've run the 1.1 for years and have never had a problem.

The 1.1 (16 lb cap) at the local auto store is fine. I have the Stant on both my radiator and AST and it works fine.

For an Upgraded (or eliminated) AST and upgeaded radiator w/ ALL new hoses I think a 1.3 bar cap would be OK otherwise I would trust MAZDA'S decision to reduce pressure to 0.9 bar. After all they felt strongly enough about it to recall (and eat the cost of replacing) all the caps on the 3500 or so 93s that were produced w/ 1.3 bar caps
