Talking 1,200 mile drive in the FD. Holy crap, NOTHING went wrong!

HOLY **** MY FD MADE IT FROM FL TO NY WITHOUT ANY ISSUES/PROBLEMS!!!

purr'd like a kitten the whole way, 85c on the pfc, almost 20mpg doing anywhere from 70-90mph the whole way.

not really great pics, and not that anyone cares, but here are some from the trip.

we stopped in savannah, ga and washington d.c. - turned out to be a really nice drive with not much traffic. lots (i mean lots) of rain driving though FL and GA, but the rest of the way was smooth sailing.

the route

rx-7 by the river in savannah, ga

savannah, ga

driving over the bridge in the previous pic

south of the border...haha

washington dc

end the fed posters!!!

back in brooklyn, looking out my window...

yeah...im glad we made it in one piece. anyway...sorry for wasting space!

^ Awesome your trip went well! Great spots to take photos. Our Florida weather lately hasn't been the best but glad it was fine for you.

I'm actually going to be doing a similar trip soon...but in reverse! I'll be arriving from plane to NJ/NYC and driving back home to Panama City. Will be taking similar roads except from Jacksonville, I"ll be heading West back home.

P.S. ...what was the combined toll charges for the entire trip? Haha. :P

Nice pictures. I'm going to make a similar trip, about 1500 kms about late august for school. I was wondering if you took any precautions before heading out, and if you had any advice. Thanks!

Duuuuuudeee......
I just made the trip from Pensacola, FL to Columbus, OH in the FD on saturday. 10 Hours worth of driving. PFC said 82 C most of the way, although I did hit 85 in Kentucky. Weather was perfect the entire way. I stopped in most of the major cities along the way just to say I did. Heading back home in about 2 weeks.

oh man...well not counting the ones i just drove through without paying (ran out of cash and there was no where to turn off first!!) i know the NJ turnpike was about $8, and there were a couple of $4 - $5 tolls. Probably around $25 total.

if you use google maps for directions, and hit the "avoid toll roads" option, it can give you a route to avoid them. last time i drove down (not in the FD) that's the route i took and it seemed to take the same amount of time.

before i left my motor looked like this, while i was putting in the new oil filler neck i made and replacing my alternator, so i spent a little time going over everything to make sure nothing was loose or leaking.

other than that, i just changed the spark plugs, changed the oil, put more air in the tires, topped off the coolant...that's about it.

****. my bad. yeah well when we were driving though that way it was POURING rain. people were pulling off the highway and putting their hazards on...i just wanted to get out of it asap so we kept driving until the rain stopped haha

No offense bro but driving 1200 miles without a problem is nothing to get exited about. I actually find it rather embarrasing that it's even an issue...

glad you made it home ok

yeah well considering i had a bad alternator and had my motor pulled apart just days earlier, i was very happy that i put everything back together correctly, and nothing else decided to crap-out.

well then that sheds a different light on things. Congratulations on your feat.

As you know we just see a lot of threads about "going 500 miles on my Fd what do you think?" and that's just sad, its a car made of metal not glass

Dont you feel right at home when you have to stare out the window every couple of minutes to make sure your baby is there??

I still dont see how you can park your car on the street like that, i wouldnt be able to sleep.

Thanks for the tip. I was expecting it be way more expensive for tolls.
