1,200 mile drive in the FD. Holy crap, NOTHING went wrong!
HOLY SHIT MY FD MADE IT FROM FL TO NY WITHOUT ANY ISSUES/PROBLEMS!!!
purr'd like a kitten the whole way, 85c on the pfc, almost 20mpg doing anywhere from 70-90mph the whole way. not really great pics, and not that anyone cares, but here are some from the trip. we stopped in savannah, ga and washington d.c. - turned out to be a really nice drive with not much traffic. lots (i mean lots) of rain driving though FL and GA, but the rest of the way was smooth sailing. the route https://farm4.static.flickr.com/3306...d9cf1daa_o.jpg rx-7 by the river in savannah, ga https://farm4.static.flickr.com/3554...1975cc5c_o.jpg savannah, ga https://farm3.static.flickr.com/2459...784797ee_o.jpg driving over the bridge in the previous pic https://farm4.static.flickr.com/3362...4457ef75_o.jpg south of the border...haha https://farm4.static.flickr.com/3384...af5a156f_o.jpg washington dc https://farm3.static.flickr.com/2451...221777bb_o.jpg https://farm4.static.flickr.com/3660...ccc247d2_o.jpg end the fed posters!!! https://farm4.static.flickr.com/3328...88d577d2_o.jpg back in brooklyn, looking out my window... :D https://farm4.static.flickr.com/3365...cd4af715_o.jpg yeah...im glad we made it in one piece. anyway...sorry for wasting space! :D |
^ Awesome your trip went well! Great spots to take photos. Our Florida weather lately hasn't been the best but glad it was fine for you.
I'm actually going to be doing a similar trip soon...but in reverse! I'll be arriving from plane to NJ/NYC and driving back home to Panama City. Will be taking similar roads except from Jacksonville, I"ll be heading West back home. P.S. ...what was the combined toll charges for the entire trip? Haha. :P |
Vented hood FTW! That's awesome!
|
HAHAHAHAHAH you stopped at south of the border!!!!!!!!!!! lol
Awesome man you should be put into the bookof world records :P j/k My FD just had a faulty water seal after a 3 hour long drive :(.. im proud of you! |
good job, glad to see nothing went wrong...

Nice pictures. I'm going to make a similar trip, about 1500 kms about late august for school. I was wondering if you took any precautions before heading out, and if you had any advice. Thanks!

Duuuuuudeee......
I just made the trip from Pensacola, FL to Columbus, OH in the FD on saturday. 10 Hours worth of driving. PFC said 82 C most of the way, although I did hit 85 in Kentucky. Weather was perfect the entire way. I stopped in most of the major cities along the way just to say I did. Heading back home in about 2 weeks. |
damn man you drove through jacksonville FL? you should have let some of us know and we would of done something togeather like lunch/chat with the rest of the jacksonville/gainsville guys

other than that, i just changed the spark plugs, changed the oil, put more air in the tires, topped off the coolant...that's about it. https://www.rx7club.com/attachment.p...1&d=1244470422

Healthy RX7s love long trips. I'm sure it was a blast.

No offense bro but driving 1200 miles without a problem is nothing to get exited about. I actually find it rather embarrasing that it's even an issue...
glad you made it home ok :) |

:dunno: yeah well considering i had a bad alternator and had my motor pulled apart just days earlier, i was very happy that i put everything back together correctly, and nothing else decided to crap-out. :)
As you know we just see a lot of threads about "going 500 miles on my Fd what do you think?" and that's just sad, its a car made of metal not glass :) |
Daym, are those espadrills your wearing, have not seen those in a long time, if not they sure look like them...LOL..

oh man...well not counting the ones i just drove through without paying (ran out of cash and there was no where to turn off first!!) i know the NJ turnpike was about $8, and there were a couple of $4 - $5 tolls. Probably around $25 total. if you use google maps for directions, and hit the "avoid toll roads" option, it can give you a route to avoid them. last time i drove down (not in the FD) that's the route i took and it seemed to take the same amount of time. |
man, thats a long drive, im hopin my fc makes it from az to cali okay lol
