£1400+!!

just found out that a stock cat (mid pipe) for my 92 r1 is gonna cost over £1400 to replace it with a new 1(havent bin able to find any second hand 1`s). now the car is stock part from a hks bov and hks back box with custom pipe 2 the cat,now would it be cheaper to upgrade to a high flowing mid pipe and do away with the stock item, but then would i have to think about upgrading the ecu or would it be ok? think am right in sayin that `cat` is what you guys call `mid pipe`. if this snds confusing soz. any help though would be great. j

search for high flow cat. that is what we call over here. 3" inlet pipe, 3" outlet pipe with a catalyst in the middle. rx7store.net and gothamracing.com and rx-7.com have em.

you should be fine using a high flow cat w/o an ecu. scroll down a bit and check this thread

thanks for the info chaps, interesting comments on that thread bout the 3 mods thing, from the sounds of it,it would be ok to get a high flow cat and keep the stock ecu but should also get a boost controller to stop it over boosting(please correct me if am wrong). would that mean if i went and swapped the induction it would be ok??
