Ive spent alot on mine over the past year. I have rebuilt the engine, new turbos, and the rest of the money went into suspension and related areas. My thinking is if i can make it outhandle most FD's then when i add HP i will be dam quick.

That so came out wrong but i dont want to change it. Brain no workie right now

I don't really wanna add it up but when I bought it, in late July 2002, the only mods were the shocks and springs. See sig below:

2-3k on mods
3k on new paint job
4-5k on major maintainance and difficult to install parts

kind of sad when i break it down because ive spent so much just getting the car in good running condition and not so much on modding it

I have never totaled it all up but a new engine, clutch, flywheel, catback, aluminum radiator, downpipe, shocks and springs, wheels and tires has got to put me in the 5-10 category. Reading that list really hurts deep down in my bank account.

i bought my car 4 years ago, so that $21k doesn't count, but i've put in over $25 in modifications/labor. about $19k of it in the last 6 months. i would say just about everything, but then you find out more stuff you need/want. i'm almost in $50k i guess. just taking it one modification at a time, well, trying to at least. i pick it up today finally, i havn't been able to drive it since my motor went out in april, but now i'm tuned and ready to really drive it again. too bad its snowing...

Used to be daily but now 2-3 times/week. Does buying another daily car count? Then add about $8k for my Ram 1500. Spent $350 on it on various maintenance and about the same on our Elantra for a full brake rebuild (springs, shims, caliper rebuild, new cryo rotors, EBC greens). Little mother will stop on a dime now

Didn't really spend any money on the FD when I drove it daily except for mods and fixing broken interior pieces. (Lost the trans when I first got it but that was over a 2 yrs ago.) One mod leads to another and next thing you know it snowballs out of control

Decided this year to instead buy a rental property ($18k). Saving to do the same next year. Between these, the rental income will subsidize my 7 'habit' and allow me to get whatever mods I want with no out of pocket. Decided I can't stand (or afford) having debt anymore

Engine Rebuild, Rotor Houseing, Porting, AST Clutch, Flywheel, HKS BOV, Greddy Relief Valve, RE V-Mount IC/Rad/Cold Intake/Battery Kit, HKS Coilovers, Wideband, AEM ECU, X-Drilled Rotors, Short Shift Kit, Alum. AST, Defi Gauges, RE HID Kit, RE Scoot Hood)
10+ K...
And I might be forgetting some things... and others I'm doing myself, like Polishing all the Intake parts on it... etc.... I did my own Polyurathane Motor Mounts, and 90% of the stuff in that list is going in as we speak.. as part of the rebuild....

Daily driven for 7 years.

In the last 12 months I bought some 18" rims($1,700), which forced me to buy Coil-Overs(rubbing)($550)

Then my coolant seals started to fail. I bought Mazda Reman($2,195) and sent it Pineapple for a street port, Oil mods and upgraded coolant seals($1,400)...and costs skyrocketed from there.

PFC/Commander ($988)
Datalogit ($285)
Tech Edge WB O2 ($430)
1300 cc injs. ($400)
Koyo Radiator ($330)
Evans coolant ($125)
ACT S/S Clutch ($470)
Water temp guage ($20)
Motor R&R ($1800)
5000k HID's ($340)

And the car still has issues! Fuel leak, boost issues, Emissions (can't pass CA smog legally), needs tuning(timing)

Damn, I better get back to work, so that I can pay for all this ****....

Hmm... About 12K this year. That doesn't count getting hit a few times in the for-sale section for over 2K.. oops!

**** it... As long as I spend more on my car than I do on my beer it's clear sailing.

I have to say I'm a bit shocked by the results of the poll so far. I didn't think it would be so heavily weighed towards the high end of the scale, I should have just made $0-$2000 its own catagory! Clearly FD ownership is an expensive addiction, all you would-be owners consider yourself warned!
