*coolant question, please help....no idea*

Okay well i went to check my coolant level and when i pulled the dipstick on the left side, it was brownish and fladed to black, and there wasn't much coolant on the stick. But my car hasn't been running hot. Is it supposed to be that color? I was like holy ****. Im not gonna drive it untill i find out if this is okay or not.

Did you put coolant in it and burp the system?
I would do that first and see if that fixes your problem

Try a search next time. This has been discussed quite a bit

Sorry to prolong the unsearched thread, but you are asking about the color of the dip stick, right? Not an overheating/low coolant light problem? These are deposit buildups from burnt coolant that settle when the coolant expands into the tank. Seems to like the platic of the dipstick better than the tank itself (probably even designed that way!) EVERY mazda I've run across (RX's Miatas, MX3's) seem to have this in common. Just clean the stick with LAVA soap and a scrubrush, should come right off. Shows you why you want to flush the system yearly, though, huh?

It has the rubber fitting on it and it is helpfull in burping the system. Also something that could be searched but is a pain in the ***. I guess im just a bad person for not using the search button every frikkin time i have a problem.

not a BAD person....
but you could find just about anything if not everything you needed to know if you are at the level of a 3 week old owner. just try to remember this car has been out for quite some time now. many of us have been here and have discussed all this in the past.

yup yup, i usually do search. But in some cases it is better when i don't have time to search to just post a thread and then come back to it later.
