Ok... so I'm driving on the freeway doing about 67mph in 5th at .. ya know around 2500-2700rpm. I start to come around a curve going left (very slight) and I'm passing this truck thats on my left.
All of the sudden I hear/feel this HUGE *BOOM*.... I can feel it on the passanger side of my car. I'm like WTF was that? I look in my mirrors... nothing on the road... I look at the truck in my mirror and dosn't look like he blew a tire or anything. It's not just that I heard it.... I actually felt it in the passanger side of my car. Then I start thinking..... could that have been detonation!??!!? What would cause it... I was just cruising in 5th.

I looked under the car... in the wheel wells... no marking that I hit somthing on the road and it hit my underside.

Everything is running fine... the car didn't hickup or anything.... nothing seems different at all. WTF was that sound?!?!?

 

i had the SAME shiet happen to me...actually i was in rush hour jam on the interstate...was cruisin at about 5 mph....SAME SHIET happened...scared the f_uck out of me....thought the truck next to me hit me......no dents..no scratches...NOTHING on the floor.....
next morning..my rear pass. tire was FLAT!!! ran over a SHARP as metal thingy....

Ya.... I thought the same thing.... I pulled over and looked all around my car... if somthing off that truck would have hit me you can trust me... I would have found him!

I'm going to go check pressure right now... and then a little later.

I had that happen to me but it was the stock rear ground affect in front of the tire that I ran over.......MAKE SURE YOU STILL HAVE YOURS ...LOL!

Seems like all parts are still there... maybe it was just somthing on the road that I didn't see even after I kicked it up.

I hate just not knowing.... especially when it comes to my baby!

 

Everyonce and a while i have the same thing, sounds like a steel cable just busted in half and scares the crap out of me. But i just thing to myself that i tire just trew something up.

 

Think maybe backfire or flame? I seem to get loud booms all the time.

 

Its not detonation so I wouldn't worry about that. Ping sounds more like a snapping or crackling sound, not boomy. And if you could feel it, man, any ping that big would blow your motor for sure. You probably just ran over something and it banged against the bottom of the car.

 

A couple of people on SupraForums left their cars running and their electric fans failed in hot weather, causing a radiator house to explode from its clamp. Might want to check your hoses.
