***First time polishing these parts***

Submitted for your aproval are a pair of trailing arms (first time doing a set of these) a starter of which only one has been done, and an alternator which James has done a feiw of them. The quality of the suspension casting is much like the throttle body and yeilds a very nice finish as compared to the intakes.
Trailing arms

starter and alternator

Shoot no ! ! ! ! This is purely functional ...........the car is being light weighted several grams at a time. I figure it will be at least 1 pound lighted by the time all the aluminum pieces are polished ! ! ! ! ! LOL

HAH! Well remember every 45,359 grams is roughly tenth of a second in the 1/4!

I have a pair of polished trailing arms and they look beautiful. You can see them from the side of the car in front of the rear wheels.

I have a spare set of stock trailing arms I will let go cheap if someone would like to use them as a core, PM me.

What's the deal with the starter? won't the polished pieces be hidden from sight?

parts look great btw

Yea that makes zero sense to polish a starter. You might as well polish your flywheel.

The work itself looks good though I agree.

Those look awesome. I'd love to polish my alternator and IM but I'm to lazy. I nearly had a fit when I was polishing my charge pipes.

So what's the pros and cons of polishing vs. powdercoating? Your work looks awesome though.

CantGoStraight must have arms that look like Popeye's!

As always...totally ******* cool work. As anyone who has ever attempted polishing aluminum knows, this is a tedious, time-consuming task, and to get these kind of results is truly a work of art!

polishing looks better and will last forever but requires some upkeep to keep it looking nice. powdercoating doesnt require any upkeep but in my opinion doesnt look as nice and if done improperly will wear away and chip.

about 2 years ago a little weasel by the name of brian thompson (93blackfd) screwed me by "powdercoating" a bunch of my engine parts and doing a horrendous job (he wanted to use a new setup he got and said he'd do it all for free)---the coating has chipped off and melted when exposed to carb cleaner. needless to say, I got what I payed for.

While my tranny was out this last time I almost was bored enough I was going to polish the bell housing. Maybe someday.

Harold, got the UIM and LIM, were you still going to send the TB ??? That spare UIM you were going to send me how do you want to do that ? ??Paypal, money order, or check ? ? ? LOL If you'll box it up and get a shipping price for me I'll send you the cash by what ever means you choose. Jack
PS I won't be using your box to send your stuff back as it was FUBAR'd by the time it got here ! ! ! ! More holes than swiss cheese (studs can wreak havoc on a box) ANy way James id going to finish up a set of cores before he starts on your stuff, if you need it back sooner than you thought let me know so I can have him drop the cores and work on your parts. Jack

I'll see if I can locate anything. They generally run between the 90 to 125 range and depends on if it has the BOV flange. Does that matter (flange or not) Jack

Jack, the polishing looks killer. I may have to send you my coolant fill neck and alternator .

Also guys, I have a p/s and a/c bracket available if you'd like to use that as a core to get polished. PM me if interested.
