Thumbs down %&!$#! - I hate my car.....

Could ONE thing be easy to reach/fix on this car???

I finally got around to testing my TPS; all ranges were okay except for one; the close throttle voltage on the 2nd wire was at about 1.4 - upper "allowable" limit is stated as 1.25. No biggie, I thought, I'll just adjust it.

Almost three hours later, nothing doing. I can get to the top adjustment screw just fine, but so help me I can't get the bottom screw to save my life. I decided that maybe I can remove the whole damn assembly the TPS is attached to, but of course one of the screw heads is already torn up, so I can't.

Then I decide to try to figure out why my coolant light/buzzer is always on; as I'm tracing the wire back the f*&^ing thing snaps because it's so damn brittle from all the heat over the years.

And I STILL can't go more than about quarter throttle without getting a fuel cut

It's reached the point where I don't even enjoy driving it anymore. I know I can eventually get it to run great, but honestly I'm at the point where the reward just doesn't make the frustration worth it. I'm seriously thinking about selling the damn thing and getting ANY other car, just so I don't have to wonder every time I get in the thing what's going to go wrong next. Hell, I drove my 88 Escort for 10 months and never had to worry about it running right, at least.

I'm tired of wasting my time and my money on this car. Even if I were to wake up tomorrow and it were magically running perfectly I honestly don't think I'd keep it.

I had an absolute blast for two years, and when the motor went last year and I thought I was going to sell it I was literally about to cry, but now I just don't give a **** anymore.

Sorry for the negative post, but I needed to vent.

Well you need to atleast fix it before you sell it. Bring it by the shop sometime.

eeeeeaaasy, killer. The wire to my water level sensor snapped as well at the connector. I simply broke the rest of it off right about at where the wrapping starts on the harness. I bought a small spool of AUTOMOTIVE GRADE 18-gauge wire and replaced it. I then wrapped about ten feet of electrical tape around it. That bitch ain't gonna crack again any time soon.

I suggest that you remove the entire throttle body and give yourself lots of room to work.

Maybe a nice MR2 Turbo would take the pain away?

Give it some time. Be good to it and it will reward you. If all else fails, take it to a shop and pay someone else for their blood sweat and tears. Resource seems like he's willing to help.

I know. My work schedule hasn't been cooperating lately, that's all. Seems like every time things settle down, I have a manager up and quit and I'm stuck working 65-70 hour weeks again.

So anyway, I'm thinking the whole problem with my fuel cut is the ECU. Seeing as how I need to upgrade it anyway I just need to decide what to get (and I CAN'T afford a PFC!). I know it's running lean, and my guess is the ECU senses it's running too lean as the RPMs and boost increase, so it cuts the fuel. Granted, that's a completely uneducated out-of-my-*** guess, but it makes sense to me I'm leaning toward a Pettitt; I was getting on here to search for a used one.

As far as the coolant light/buzzer goes, I'm pretty definate the line has a short somewhere - anybody know or have a diagram of where the coolant level sensor line runs? Even better, for a temp fix, anybody know how to disable the speaker on the flasher CPU without killing the CPU?

The there's the oil leak on my oil sending unit; still need to buy the new unit and install it. Ummmm....my steering wheel is still on crooked; I called Ian tonight to set up an appointment to have him fix it and haven't heard back yet. I still can't believe his f-ing asst. put it on the rack like that And I need to get the TPS adjusted, still.

So, Ryan, those are my major problems. Otherwise, I need new tires, too! I barely passed my safetly inspection with the "slicks" I have now!

Even if/when I get it running right, though, I'm leaning towards selling it. It's 10 years old, now and I know it's just going to keep having stupid little problems due to the relative age, even if the milage is still low.

But hey...not all's bad....looks like I finally got me a woman! Hehe. Kind of embarassing picking her up for the first date and apologizing for the coolant beep!

How bout the weekend after the 4th of July weekend? I should at least be able to get Sunday off, maybe Saturday, too if I'm lucky. We should make it the local "Help Fix Mike's Car Before He Sets It On Fire" weekend!
