$70 downpipe is it worth it?
$70 downpipe is it worth it?
The local muffler shop said that he will make me a downpipe for $70 installed. He said that material is aluminum. Would there be any difference between a $300 stainless steel one vs the $70 generic one? Is this actually a good deal?
Do you know what wall thickness they'll use?
I would say too much heat generated by the rotary for an aluminized down pipe. Stainless, more expensive, but a lot more resistant to heat, therfore would last a lot longer.

Agreed, installation would run you that much.
I would be uneasy with him fabricating it unless he has experience.
Make sure he makes good thick flanges. And what kind of aluminum and what thickness? I'm rarely heard of exhaust piping being made of 100% aluminum compared to intake pipes which are.

The next thing you know, he'll break the studs bc he's never done a FD before. You'll end up with a $500 bill to remove the manifold.
Alum DP is a joke. No one makes alum exhaust parts on FD for a reason.
