Question $5000 for a drop in motor?

is this too much money? The rebuilt motor has new rotor housings, 3mm apex seal, all new seal, readly to drop in. and about 3000mi on it.

Including labor..it's not a bad deal.....new housings are $$$..porting cost $$...3mm seals involve extra machining = $$...dont sound too bad

$5000 with that kinda rebuilt and install is defintely a good deal. But without the install is a bit too much. Is the motor ported?

thats high...

for the motor only its high....who knows if the motor was even broken in properly....no way would I pay five k for a used motor.

I had my last motor ported and installed with all new parts for 5500. the shop that did my motor would do all the labor and the motor for close to that I am sure...

Id pay no more than 2500 for that motor...maybe less...if its ported and built by a quality shop then Id pay 2500..thats it.

rotor housings are like 450 each for a 3rd gen
3mm seals and the milling are ~950

A good motor with 3mm and new housings, porting, oil mods is like 3600-3800 with a good core. If the install is done right not bad.

Later, Jeff
