UPDATE:Nobody could figure out the problem so I went out and bought a '93 R-1 w/15k miles. Looks and smells new. Incredible!
So noe one was able to figure out the problem and there is no one to give the 100.00 to. Lots of guess's but no one was right. Alot of people think they lkow RX7's but I really wonder!!!
So I'm selling the car.

QUOTE:$100.00 if you can figure this out...
Bought 94 a/t rx7 Bogs,b/fires and won't accelerate. Idles well but can't drive over 10 mph. Does not smoke.
Things I've done...

2)engine replaced b/4 i bought it.
3)leaky 2ndary inj. replaced.
4)boost sensor replaced.
5)fuel filter replaced
6)turbo's replaced b/4 I bought it.
7)pulls 10 on vac/boost gauge.
8)replaced plugs
9)fuel pressure test
10)replaced bad sensors
11)put on downpipe
12)cleaned fuel pump filter
13)replaced fuel pulsation dampner
14)TPS
15)OMP
16)ECU
STILL RUNS THE SAME!!! Soon as I press the gas it stumbles, spits and backfires...

I'm stumped and $100.00 goes to the first to figure it out. Please no guess's and no amateurs.

I read someone on another thread mention that one of the automatic transmission sensors could cause a problem like this. Not sure which one since I have a manual.

that's nice. insult the people that tried to help you before, and then tell everyone that if they dont post the correct answer they have ruined "your" thread.
you are in VA? no shops around you? hmmm...isnt PFS in VA? what about ErnieT's boy "D" from reactive racing? i believe that is in MD or VA.

it is kinda hard to NOT guess without seeing the car. troubleshooting a car is exactly that. guessing what could be wrong and eliminating it as the problem.

btw...i dont respond to these $100 questions. i am still owed money...

Have you tried running the car with the main cat disconnected? I had a friend with a truck that had a very clogged cat, and it wouldn't go past 25mph.

Did you take it to a well-respected rotary shop...or even call one for technical advice?

That would be after you made sure all of the obvious components were working right. Only a compulsive fool, with money to burn, would sell a car based on that malfunction. As long as it had a good engine, that is. Besides, all you had to do was rent a trailer, find a friend with a hitch and take it to a formidable shop, i.e. rotorsportsracing, Peter Ferrell. There a too many off them within it driving distance of Virginia not to. Instead, you bought a new car?

wow...a lack of resourcefulness compounded by a deficit of patience.

I don't mean to flame but I feel compelled since you took the liberty to do so first Rx7r3

That is just nuts to buy a new car...so please quell my bewilderment and say you took it to a shop comparable to the two I listed.

Garrett,
You speak w/big words but they belie your ignorance of the situation. Only a fool makes a reply to a matter w/out hearing both sides the good book says. So I will not tell the whole story now.Maybe you would not appreciate my side and then you will probably treat me this way..." Do not throw your pearls before swine or they will rip you open". Come on ease up. I wanted a low mileage 5sp in the 1st place and a guy who is a reputable rotary mechanic talked me into buying this fix up special. I have called all the so called rotary experts above to no avail. So I'm done with it by choice, so throw around your empty psychology on some illiterate fool to impress yourself and the immature followers of your empty reasoning!!!
As to whether I have a RX7, I have two and had 4 MKIV's. Stick that in your tailpipe! LOL.
So chill out guys. You don't flame me, and I'll do the same for you!

Your point is valid in two ways. First, you are right, due to your lack of thouroghness, I have not seen fully both sides, my sympathies. Second, if you want a manual instead of automatic, good decision, it will ultimately be easier on your engine, and thus, last longer.

You missed the mark, however, all accross the board in the rest of your post. I will not flame, I am just going to objectify your statements and include my side. Since you have made some incredulous assumptions of literacy, psychology and reasoning of our fellow forum members, I will begin my argument.

Let me begin with the psychology flame. You used this conjecture to make assumptions on my breadth of knowledge concerning psychology. Let me put you at ease and say that I have taken the time to look up "empty psychology" in behavioral, cognitive, social, biopsychology, psycodynamic and industrial psychology paradigms. It is not a valid term. It is a term we use in the field called "pop psychology". I have a clinical degree, so I can only validate one branch of psychology. Your literacy needs to be addressed, and that is not a flame...

Which leads me into being illiterate. That means that you are saying to the audience of your post, which is written, can't read. I won't elaborate anymore. That flame explainse itself.

In the last bit of "empty reasoning" you have become redundant. Why have you coined 2 phrases, in your expert jargon, that include the word “empty”? That is a serious question...could it say more about your mind rather than my own?

"I have two (RX-7s) and 4 MKIV's. Stick that in your tailpipe!” just thought I would quote that and say "You don't flame me, and I’ll do the same for you!", your own reply will suffice

notice after he said he would shove 2 RX-7s and 4 Supras in my exhaust pipe, he then digressed and told me not to flame, a bit after the fact, huh audience? (or according to rx7r3 "immature followers")

Garrett

Garrett,
It's all good fun. I don't have a high schoool education. Some consider me illiterate. My parents were to poor to put me past junior high. But I understand what you are saying by just using common sense, that's all. I just made the point that it is wrong to assume or imput wrong motives w/out knowing someone.
I was being redundant on purpose to make my point.
The tailpipe comment as jest.
"Can't we all just get along"
And yes, I love my 5sp!
Did you know 2 of my Supras were a/t and were much faster than the 6sp? Way faster! Toyota did there a/t right...Mazda...sorry!

I had the same problem on my car. Make sure that all of the connectors under the hood in the engine bay are connected properly. The harness that was making my car do what yours does is on the passengers side of the car; on the fender wall. Just make sure all of those plugs are connected properly. Since the engine was replaced maybe they forgot to plug in all of the wiring harnesses. Hopefully this helps.
P.S. The harness I'm talking about is very hard to connect together. Just a little gap and your car runs like ****.

I'm buying a third RX7 Saturday. Woo,woo! If ya want pictures of all my cars now and all the others I've had, let me know. Since I don't have a high school education I started a business and now own 3 companies. I enjoy sports cars, esp. tt Japan cars. I'm not rich and I'm not poor, but I run honest companies. And by the way, my father is dead and my mother in poor health. So I write my own post!

Question for you. I looked under the car and noticed gaps where the gaskets are between the turbos and engine. Looks like the manifold not even. Can you resurface (grind) the manifold? Would that cause a major vacuum leak? And would it make the car stumble past idle?
