Where can i get good quality water seals kit?

Where can i get good quality water seals kit?

hey guys,

I am having a blown water seals issue with my brand new rebuilt 13b.
I am assuming everything other than the water is in good shape since the motor has only 500 miles on it.
I think the reason why is blew the water seals is it had air in the cooling system cause the motor to over heat then melted the seals.

anyway, where is a good place that I can order water seals from? any brand name?
except the water seals what should I be replacing? given the motor is brand new.

Mazda OEM.

Forget using anything else.

​​​​​Just make sure they are installed correctly and bleed the cooling system properly the next time. Do you have an AST which makes bleeding the system a bit easier? As when you don't have one it can take ages to bleed all of the air out of the system and it already takes a good while doing it with the AST installed.

Disconnecting the hose (thermowax heat) at the LR backside of the UIM helps bleeding a bunch. That eliminates a major trapped air pocket.

went to mazda today trying to order them, but they can not have them for the next couple of weeks.
looked up Atkins Rotary online and they have them in stock, wondering if they have good quality seals?
Also should I get the hole o-ring kits? or just the coolant seals?

I use Atkins in every rebuild I've done. Excellent seals. They even have their own brown seal. They are the best. It's possible your builder may have twisted or pinched a seal on installation. Every rebuilt engine should be pressure tested before install to make sure the seals were right and will hold pressure.

So it may be a "chicken or egg" scenario. Which was the root cause, the overheating due to air-lock, or an air lock caused by combustion gasses getting into the cooling system?

You may be able to tell the root cause if you inspect carefully on disassembly.

pulling the motor out of the car tmr night, last time I pulled the spark plugs, coolant just coming out of the spark plug holes..

Brian, it's a good idea to replace the other soft seals inside the engine like the dowel pin o-rings and the tension bolt washers.

Also consider the Pineapple Racing Heavy Duty coolant o-rings. I've used them a fair amount over the years and they've worked as good as OEM--- I'm not aware of any overheating issues where they out performed stock, but it's never a bad thing when engines aren't overheating
