What have people told you about your fd?

Just curious what other people have told you guys.

Now I've only had the car for 3 months but so far I've had one guy tell me that if the compression is too high and my motor blows the rotors can come flying out and cut my feet off. He was completely serious. Another guy came into my side job and proceeded to tell me how much racing experience he has (didn't ask for any specs or anything) and tell me that I need to put a single turbo on asap because that's the best way to improve reliability and that he knows what he talking about because he's built race cars for years.

So tell your stories of other people's knowledge on your car! I'm sure sombody has some funny ones.

It's not how you stand by your car, it's how your drive it. You better believe that.

"Nice Porsche, didn't know they made them with pop-up lights"

"Cool miata"

"Why don't you swap a sr20 engine into it"

"Why is the rx-8 better than the rx-7?"

"I drove that car in Need For Speed"

"I drove that car in Grand Turismo"

"Since its revs so high, you should get better valve springs for it."

"How many times have you replaced the apex seals?"

I've learned to not take it to the parts stores anymore. It saves me all the trouble.

Funny moment was when I was at a stoplight, two guys in a Sienna drive up. Driver looks over, pulls down his shades, then says "I'll bet you I can take you in the quarter mile." His friend starts laughing at the top of his lungs. I remember doing the same to a Ferrari while in a Prius and having a good laugh myself.

I work at a parts store part time and constantly get people coming in asking about it. Most people just say nice car or tell me to ls swap it. One time me and my buddy called up the store across town and got the girl over there looking for piston rings for about a good 30 minutes.

Seems like everybody's brother or cousin or friend used to have an FD. Like so many people that every FD would need to have gone through like 20 owners to have it be true.

The most common comment/question I get these days is simply: "When is it going to run again?" ..

"Why does it have two radiators?"
"Typical Japanese, they just copied the styling of the C5 Vette". Really?

If I ever get comments about engines going pop and needing a rebuild I always retort "oh yes, terribly unreliable, had to rebuild it 3 times on the drive here"

Aside from people calling it a Porsche, Ferrari, or Viper I've had a number of people tell me how crazy high these things can rev. "My buddy has one that will rev to 20k all day long."

I'm not sure why people have thought it was a Ferarri or Porsche, can't think of a single model of either of those that is similar. Maybe a baby Viper GTS if you stand way back and squint.

Mostly people just go ape **** and take pictures and give me thumbs up. But once in a while I get approached with:

'Is fast?'- too may count
'What year is it? A 94? really I thought it was new' - often enough
'Glad you kept the RX-7 emblem otherwise it would be hard to tell what this is' -couple of older gentlemen who were appreciating my car while parked
'Hey man, your car is beautiful... I just gotta shake your hand'- Random young guy while parked
