Hey,
As I was remounting my downpipe, I noticed this unplugged actuator (?) behind the charge controle valve. I've no idea what actuator it is nor its role.
If anyone can help, I'd appreciate, because I guess it's not normal it's unpluigged like this...

 

That's the EGR valve, it's just for emissions. That's a California-style EGR valve that has the sensor on it - it moves with a vacuum signal, and the switch tells the ECU that it moved.

If you are in France I'm not sure if you have a European model, Japanese model, or what.

Regardless it's purely emissions and can be removed. Mazda got rid of it in the US in '95 and the Japanese cars didn't have it.

Also, I see you have a rag or something stuffed back in your Y-pipe - make sure to get that out of there before you put it back together! Had a buddy who spent ages trying to figure out why his car was so slow, turned out he forgot a rag and it was all stuffed in the intercooler.

So it's the EGR ! Now I know why I have this 28 ecu error code in diagnostic mode ! I'll see how to fix it, it will be a lot easier now, thanks a lot, Dale !

Wow.. thanks again for noticing this white thing in the y-pipe. I really didn't notice it before actually... I've no idea what it is, but I hope it has not collapsed in my intercooler now, cause I drove the car this afternoon... I'll check this out asap!

ok, the thing in the y-pipe was just the other side of the rag I inserted in the dump valve hole, so that's cool since I removed it before reinstalling the dump valve

So I took a look at the EGR sensor which is unplugged too :

(this is probably the reason why i've got the ECU error code) but I didn't find the female connector where it should plug... there's nothing close enough that matches... anyway, not a big deal now, I'll take care of this later.


I also noticed I've got a couple small pipes let free in the ratnest... I should take care of this as well asap ^^

 

The plug for the EGR is typically with the air pump wiring, you would probably need to dig around to find it.

But, it looks like a previous owner tried to remove the EGR stuff. The nipple that doesn't have anything connected to it that's up under the intake manifold (the right circle in the picture) I THINK should go to a vacuum solenoid for EGR. The left circle is the empty pipe that all manual transmission cars have, that is only used on auto cars.

Since it looks like a lot of the EGR stuff was removed it's possible the EGR valve is bad or the previous owner blocked it off inside or something. Again, EGR is really not needed to pass emissions or have the car drivable or anything. Trying to get the system to work so you don't have a code may be more work than disabling it. Read up on it some, you can get a stock ECU that doesn't look for EGR fairly cheaply or go for a PowerFC that doesn't use it in the first place.
